Perry Central 2013 Season Schedule and Predictions

2013 WYMT Pigskin Preview: Perry Central Commodores

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Entering 2013, the Perry Central Commodores will be facing a much bigger task than improving on last season's 4-7 record. They will be looking to replace more than 4,100 of total offense, including leading passer and rusher Austin Pray.

"Anytime you're going to replace a big time athlete like Austin Pray, he ran for 1,300 yards, was the first 1,000-yard rusher since I've been (at Perry Central), and he threw for over 2,000 (yards). He accounted for a lot of touchdowns and he really hid some things," says head coach Justin Haddix. "If we struggled up front, he hid that and made some plays out of broken plays and made me look like a lot better coach."

"First off, we got to replace Austin (Pray) because he did really good at quarterback last year," adds Tyler Fugate, a senior wide receiver/safety, "but Seth (Napier) has been working hard; he's been doing good."

"We got a bunch of good skill players; Nathan Pray and Seth (Napier), I think he'll be pretty good this year at quarterback. All together, if everybody works hard as team, we'll be okay," says senior Joey Sams.

With new play makers coming in on offense, solid offensive line play will be key.

"Well it's definitely going to be something needed but I think just as long as we go as hard as we can up front, we'll be fine," says senior lineman Harvey Sebastian.

"Up front we're going to have some, it's a good mixture of old and young guys," adds Haddix. "We got three seniors on that front. We're going to have a mixture of some sophomores and maybe a freshman on there, but really a good mixture that works well together and that was something they kind of said they feel a little more together."

The defense expects to be better as well.

"We got a lot of young kids but I think we'll be alright this year with them," says senior linebacker Devan Brewer. "We're going to be tough, strong. Big hearted."

Perry Central opens their brand new stadium at home in week zero against the Clay County Tigers.
