Raceland and Fairview are fortunate to be in a weak region that offers them a relatively easy playoff run. If they were in the old NKY region with Beechwood, NCC, Cov Holy Cross, Bellvue, Dayton, And Ludlow then I can almost guarantee that neither team would ever make it past the second round and some years they would be lucky to make it past the first round.

But for these weak eastern 1A schools to make it to the quarter finals and finals. Don't they eventually have to play the best of those regions. In past few years Pikeville, Fairview and Hazard all won or played in the final game. Before that LCA was in our district/ Region.They also won the state. They had to play Nicholas, Paintsville and a few other cupcakes like Paris. Becaure they are district games. You still have to play the best of the best to get to the finals. Fairview, Pikeville, LCA have all proved in resent years you can play a pretty easy schedule and still compete with the Mayfields, Beachwoods and others when the time comes. Does Raceland schedule have to have ten top ten teams on it to make people happy. They have Ironton, Ashland, Lawrence Co and a few more very tough games. Tell Fairview they have to toughen up that schedule before they can make it to the final. Oh wait they did. Tell Pikeville they can't win because of the district and schedule you play. O wait they did. Just a little bit silly thinking!!! A couple years ago I followed Mayfield. They won the state. Their district had three teams. The other two teams were a combined 1-20. They played two teams with a winning record. Still one the state. Eight times I believe. They sent in that Northern Ky region.
