Here is what happened : Pike Cent got the ball with 42 sec to go in half. After a penalty or loss of yds. they ended up behind the chains (needing more than 10 yds. for a 1st down) they completed a pass between the markers (short of the 1st down) with right around 15 sec to go and the linesman on that side ran in and signaled to stop the clock, which it stopped for 6-8 sec then he realized his error and the ref signaled run the clock. Justice then spiked the ball with 5.7 on the clock, after P'burg argued (rightly so) the ref said set the clock to 3 sec.
At that point he whistled for the play clock to run, not the game clock because of the spiked pass. Justice then threw the hail mary for the TD.
P'burg's argument was there should not be 3 sec left because it stopped for more than that. Trust me they know the rules and knew it wouldn't run when the ball was set, they might've wanted it to wind when set to be fair because of the incorrect stoppage.
This was not the only clock issue during the game, sometimes it ran too long and sometimes it didn't run when it should but on this series it was the linesman who caused the error.
