His throwing motion is awesome and like I have posted before, Coach Watson from UL and Coach Magnus from South Carolina said it is one of the best throwing motions and releases they have ever seen. But you have said things about his throwing motion before. I would really like to hear what is wrong with the motion.

His understanding of defenses is extremely good he understands coverages, recognizes fronts, blitzes even when teams try to roll coverages(which almost no qb ever sees in high school let alone recognizes it) and changes plays at the line of scrimmage.

Trent Dilfer, told Mr. Hempel, that Barkers football IQ is unbelievable and is something that impressed him along with his physical skills. Which is why Drew changes a lot of plays based on what the defense shows, according to interviews from his HC.

I think the inconsistency, which there is not a lot of IMO, is to how the wr match up with the other teams dbs and his mind and ability to process is faster than the wr skill level causing him to "wait" at times for things to develop. With Fogle last year he had a high level wr that teams had a hard time matching up with and a much better line. Watching Bonnafon from Trinity and his situation it is similar. Last years Trinity qb put up better numbers than Reggie but had a lot more talent around him and Reggie is the better qb. The game the other night in the Pit at Elder you could see how the WR-DB match up is critical to the succes of the qb.

I cannot figure out the Towles situation. Only thing I have heard was that he could not recognize defenses very well and then process that into the play going full speed. But that is only what I heard. I think that at HHS the qb is told who to throw it too because the coach thinks his athletes will just make the play on the ball. That is how Coach Mueller describes it, but he could just be "talking." Or it could be throw to this guy if he is open, if he isn't throw to this guy type of thing. Now, Towles throwing motion is something that needs worked on IMO.

I do not think Towles will transfer, of course that is just a guess. For him to work as hard as he did at HHS, where they work a lot, tells me that he will not shy away from the challenge or back down.

As far as the big school bust I can only think of one.

I agree with most of that which is why I said above the bad DM could be because of his poor recievers... Also he hasn't done extremely well on those "great reads" he would of thrown 6 ints vs Ryle's terrible secondary if the D-Backs would of caught the ball and 3 against SK.

It is true his ability to understand defenses in the classroom is exceptional but the game is where it matters. As I recall everyone loved Pikes IQ as well but he also didn't have the best senior season.

Also his throwing motion in the game is what I was concerned about when he's in the pocket it's inconsistency. He tends to look like an all-American one play and then 2 or 3 later goes away from the fundamentals. Not terrible but easily corrected and had gotten better as year has gone on. Repetition is the quick fix.

I stand by what I said before he has the materials I haven't seen them put together.

If Barker can pull a miracle run and put it together in the playoffs maybe he is put up there but right now I don't see it.
