I forgot to mention that. I don't understand. The kid missed an extra point to tie the game late in the 4th against Knox Central. Until last weeks game we have consistently went for 2. IMO, you are leaving points off the board. The kid is knocking down 40 yard FG's In warm ups. I know it is not the same as in game situation, but we are talking extra points not 40 yard FG. Yes I think we should have took a shot at the FG on the opponents 8 yard line up 6 with a minute to go. It was basically an extra point attempt.

Come on coach have confidence in this kid, and he will gain that confidence in himself.

To give you a little perspective, though... if that XP vs. Knox Central would've been missed a number of years ago, Coach D wouldn't even -think- of giving him another chance to kick FG's the rest of the year. So he's actually lightened up a little considering he let #18 kick XP's the first 2 scores last Friday...lol.

Sorry bro, but I don't agree with the "confidence" issue you bring up. IMO, you have it backwards at this level. One of the BEST things I like in Coach D and Coach A is they treat the players as ADULTS until they prove otherwise. From that perspective, it is inherent on the player to get the coach where he is confident the player will play his position to the best of his ability. Playing football is a privilege and not the coach out there playing the game. The coach is a teacher, the player is a student and real confidence comes with hard work and ability, not being patted on the head.

Of course, part of it could be how BADLY P-burg has run that 2-pt conversion play the staff seems insistent to keep on running (3-wide, dbl tight spread empty backfield). The number of times they've run that same play unsuccessfully makes me think the coaches aren't happy with the way it's been executed and are going to call it until they see it done right ( :HitWall: ). But whatever the reason, the young receivers -must- break open on the first move (that's all there's time for vs. goal line defensive fronts) or it will not work.

IDK, maybe the coaches have simply forgotten how well that simple unbalanced 3-back with motion from the weak-side TE running a simple sweep worked to get into the end-zone early in the year (on goal line offense and 2-pt tries). Not one opposing defense compensated correctly to overcome the extra blocking. It ends up something like a Wildcat, but gives the defense a different look initially.
