Belfry @ Bourbon County (State Semi Finals)11/29/13
Chasin Bucs Wrote:We will be hearing the pads POP early in this game! I think the Pirates will over power Bourbon in the end, and it won't be as close as what people may imagine. Bourbon hasn't played against an O-line and backfield like Belfry this year and won't be able to go 4 quaters with them. Belfry's D has played with some high powered offense's this year and have been successful (minus JC). The new D is also better than before, although I like Dakota Stanley better than Catron at LB. Catron isn't bad, but he lacks the size to stuff a big gaurd or tackle at the LOS IMO. He will definelty lay the big hit though.

It put a smile on my face to see Hatfield get some carries last game! Hopefully he gets more this week. Carr is a great FB, but I like Hatfield better at that position. Johnson, Carr and Hatfield is one deadly combination in the backfield!

Belfry 42
Bourbon 14

After watching film, I can promise this won't be a 28 point game either way.

If Belfry misses tackles like they did against JC, or gives up the deep ball like they did against PCC Belfry will be playing catch up.

That being said Bourbon has to pick their poison better this year. Last year they played a guessing game and Belfry's QB did a nice job of reading the defense. The Best and only way to slow down a belly read scheme is to pick your poison and stick with it. If you feel more comfortable stopping the option, take the fb and hb and force the option. If you feel more comfortable with your middle LBs sit your DT in the hole and make the qb give it to the fb, and like wise if you feel more comfortable with the second back, have your DT take the first back and hopefully your end is better than their tackle. Its a very hard offense to stop, and when ran and read perfectly is essentially unstoppable, but it is also a very turnover laden offense if reads are missed. Only time will tell ... but I don't think this will be a blowout either way....
