Lost in this discussion is there about 20 other regulations that are more important than holdbacks: coaching certification and official game count.

Will the khsaa keep non kymsfa sanctioned football teams from playing 15 games and basketball teams from playing 40.

IMO this is more dire than a kid who stayed back a year but is still of age. But that shows the focus of these rule changes. Real safety concerns with start with mandatory certified coaches and a submitted schedule to ensure kids aren't playing 3 football games in 7 days.
