Class 3A District 4

1. Bell County (7-5): Wayne Mills' Bobcats look to get back at the top of the district with nine starters returning on offense and eight on defense.

2. Corbin (9-3): New coach Justin Haddix takes over a team that will return 22 seniors while looking to capture a district championship during his first year as the Redhounds' head coach.

3. Wayne County (14-1): The Cardinals were one win away from capturing a state championship this past season and will now try to replace nine starters on offense and eight on defense.

4. McCreary Central (0-10): The Raiders are coming off a winless season, but have hopes of reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

5. Casey County (2-9): The Rebels are hoping to build off last season's two-win campaign.


Preseason Favorite: Bell County

Wayne Mills' Bobcats return the bulk of their talent from last season's 7-5 squad, which includes quarterback Peyton Collet, running back Austin Caldwell, defensive back Hayden Gilbert and linebacker Justin Green.

"This team returns a lot of players from last year's squad." Mills said. "We have nine starters returning on offense and eight starters on defense. We also have 10 seniors on the roster as well. If we can stay away from injuries, we could have a good run in the playoffs."


Knocking on the Door: Corbin

With new coach Justin Haddix taking over the reigns at Corbin, many Redhound faithful like their team's chances of winning the district and making a deep run in the playoffs.

Haddix inherited a squad that will return 10 starters on offense and five on defense. Twenty-two seniors also return to the mix for Haddix's squad.

"I'm excited to get things going here," Haddix said. "Corbin has a lot of tradition, and I'm hoping we can continue the tradition.

"I've got to meet the kids, and they are ready to go." he added. This is an exciting time for Corbin football.


2014 Preseason player of the Year

Jake Coppock, Corbin, Sr., RB/LB, 6-0, 102.

Coppock ran for more than 1,000 yards on the ground last season for the Redhounds. Not only is he a force running with the ball, but he's also a force catching the ball out of the backfield as well. His talents in the backfield will give Corbin an edge in the backfield over most of the teams the Redhounds will face this season.
