The right wing leadership in this country wants you to produce proof of ID to fix a non existent problem but doesn't support extensive background checks for buying fire arms. They then go on to spin this as somehow logical and patriotic instead of them serving there own pocketbooks. Why would any party want it to be easier to own a gun than to vote in a election?
