A lot of guys exaggerate or lie when talking about how hard they had it in football, but you always know when someone is telling the truth, just like you. Im not exaggerating in the slightest when I say water breaks were a rare occurrence for us. It was widely believed that water wasn't good for you. Thinking about how absurd that sounds now, it makes me glad the rules have changed, but they have begun taking it way too far.
Im curious as to why a team cant go full pads in practice after the first week. We always did, and that was only because they made you go a week in helmets back then before starting full contact drills.
We were always going live drills by this time every year.

It hurts teams in the fundamentals of blocking and tackling for sure. If they are going to mandate an August 1 full pad rule then the season should be pushed back to week 1 and play thru week 11 (or 12 and allow 11 games). No week 0 and 2 scrimmages allowed after the 1st week of full pads. Limiting scrimmages if you play week 0 is dumb. This would official align HS football with college and pro to start on consecutive weekends and just add to the excitement of the sport IMO. Regional finals would be Thanksgiving weekend and twice the number of teams would get to experience that.
