Johnson Central.... Black & Gold - Golden Eagles

JC was actually going to have Red, White & Blue as our colors, with a Colonel mascot. There was a restaurant/truck stop called 'The Colonel' pretty close to the property when JC was being built. The story I got was some of the school board members went to Morehead State and recommended the Eagle. Some how, the Golden Eagle came about and the Gold stayed and Black replaced the Blue in Morehead's color

JC also uses Morehead State's fight song.

When Johnson Central was consolidated, none of the schools that were closed had the colors or mascot of the new school.

Van Lear: Bank Mules/Grey & Blue
Flat Gap: Greyhounds/Red & Grey
Meade Memorial: Red Devils/Maroon & White
Oil Springs: Wildcats/Blue & White

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JC HONOR THE CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS WITH A 'Throwback' Style uniform. Maybe a different uniform for one game for four seasons.
