The story that I was always told how Raceland became the Rams was Raceland did not have any home facilities for football and basketball, therefore they were called the Ramblers because they always were "rambling on the road" or something similar. My memory is little fuzzy about that line. When Raceland finally got home facilities, they just shortened the name to Rams. I have no idea how Raceland adopted the colors orange and black.
Greenup Co. became the Musketeers as a result of the consolidation of Wurtland HS, Greenup HS, and McKell HS. The colors of Greenup Co. represent one color for each school consolidated:
Black- Wurtland (Colors were red and black)
Yellow- McKell (Colors were blue and yellow)
Green- Greenup (Colors were green and white)
