At East Ridge we had a popular vote among students from the three schools

Feds Creek Vikings (Indigo Blue and Yellow)
Elkhorn City Cougars (Royal Blue and Gold)
Millard Mustangs (Brown and Yellow)

The school name was originally "Pike County East" and the mascot was not decided upon. That's why the original jerseys only had the words "East" wrote on them. Mascot ideas were still being debated at the time. Mountain Lion was a popular opinion...(But someone brought up the suggestion, isn't a mountain lion the same thing as a cougar). I remember the Patriots and Vipers were also suggestions as well.

The school eventually adopted the Warriors and Navy, Columbia Blue, and White as the schools colors and mascots.
