I did not attend the game but watched the game webcast. I wasn't aware of the kick rule on punts going into the endzone after hitting the receiving player so did not question the call until reading about it here. Very bad officiating on that call and also some judgment calls as well, both ways. I think that Mayfield would have probably won anyhow because NCC had all kinds of chances to score and could not. If the call had gone correct and the score remained 7 to 0, I doubt if NCC would have scored their touchdown because after going down 14 to 0 they became a little more aggressive and changed their play scheme a little. Desperation touchdown was what they made. They did not score anymore the rest of the game and I really believe they would not have scored any as well as the Mayfield defense was playing. NCC played exceptional defense as well but only stopping the run. NCC lost because they couldn't put points on the board when they had the chance. the bad call on the muffed punt may have changed play from both teams, but we will never know. Too bad that 2 very good teams had to have such a bad call during a championship game. Mayfield was the better team and proved they can play 2A as well as 1A. NCC lost the game in the first quarter by not putting points on the scoreboard, they won the first quarter in stats, but lost the rest of the game because they could not score on Mayfield, this is my unbiased opinion.
