Ok My Brothers and Sisters in Maroon....This kindve a controversial issue amongst the faithful. The 1955 Panther Football team went undefeated. I've heard varying stories oh how they were crowned. There were no playoffs then. I've heard it was based on votes from media and I've also heard it was based on the Lit ratings. Maybe it was a combination of the 2. On that I'm not sure. What I do know is they beat everyone put in front of them. There are some even in the alumni who don't want to count this as a State Title in our teams history because it was annointed on them rather than won in post season. While I see some validity in that. My argument is this. The players and coaches on that team did everything they were supposed to do. Is it their fault there was no postseason? Also, if places like Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Penn State recognize NATIONAL TITLES awarded to them by sports writers.....What makes us any better that we can't? Thoughts?
