If they grew a backbone then they would win over many of the voters that stayed home in the 2008 & 2012 elections (an estimated 54 million Christians stayed home because of distrust in Romney) and probably win the whole thing pretty handily. That's how Reagan won it, that's how the Republican party has succeeded. Not when they try to be Democrat-lite. To quote Bobby Jindal, "We already have one Democratic party. We don't need two."
