Your not aware of the player injuries and player adjustments we have recently had to make. Those are the challenges behind the scenes I was referring too.

Honestly, this has been a fun group to coach. The kids are working hard and their effort is good. We knew it would be a tough year.

We are focusing on the process and not allowing ourselves to get discouraged.

We are staying positive!

Heck, we get paid nothing, hold full-time jobs- (in Coach Mullins case a full load of Calculus classes,) we have families to raise, bills to pay, and young men to mentor through football. Coaching is part of our life, but not our whole life!

A high school football coaches self worth should never be determined solely by whether or not they can get 14-18 year olds to win enough games but also by the relationships they build.

I saw several former players and former colleagues from Green Up Co. come see Coach Mullins and thank him for the impact he had on them over the summer.

I witnessed first hand one of his players from last year who moved out of state text him before the Mercer Co. scrimmage telling him good luck and that he loved him! Over the summer I saw numerous players from last year hanging around the program over the summer. This is a sign of relationship building.

Building relationships is the foundation of a program and it takes time. Brick by brick.

So the key is staying positive, focusing on the process and keep working to find the answers!

It's not all on Coach Mullins it's on every coach, adult and player that is part of our football family to get this ship turned around!
