Tica Wrote:It appears Larue had some injuries against Etown and had to come out in the second half trying to throw the ball. They are a decent running team. Not so much in the air. Close at the half. Etown is explosive and pulled away in second half. Etown can basically score on any play from anywhere.
That being said, Caldwell had problems stopping Tilghman's ground game. But the Caldwell folks said that was due to injuries rather than an intrinsic weakness, so who knows. If everyone is healthy, I still think Caldwell pulls away with their passing attack.
You said it all; especially about E-town. They are so unbelievably explosive on offense and special teams (when getting the ball and when they are giving it to you. Their kicker knocks them out of the back of the endzone; making everybody they play go 80 on them if they can and their punter will flip the field).
LaRue can throw it; that's just not how they roll & it's proved to be the best recipe...or at least one hard to argue to this point. I think with what they had returning from 2016's 5-6 team; most expected them to be better....but, I don't think anybody could say they reasonably expected a team was going to win 10 games after not winning that many the previous 4 years combined (this senior group had ONLY won 9 their previous 3 years under two different coaches, all be it one of them the same- Jaggers had this group in 14 when 7-9 of them were starting as Freshmen and they went 2-9).
Their QB has a 60%+ completion percentage with 13 TD's and only 1 INT on the year. He threw for over 1K both his sophomore and junior seasons, but also threw for almost as many INT's as he did TD's; dang near 20/20 in both. This offense has proved to be a lot more beneficial for him IMO. He isn't the tallest and is a runner first, but throws a great ball...especially deep ball which is where LaRue will hit you. They'll suck you in, suck you in, suck you in...then bomb it.
Milby; their QB is 1,000+ yard all purpose through the air and rushing.
They are "balanced"; just in a different form of balance than we are all used to seeing in this day in age.
Their leading rusher; Cobb has gone for 1200+ on the ground, their FB Young and other HB Adkins (both Juniors) have gone for over 1,000K on the ground combined. QB Milby is 1,000+ all purpose & two leading WR w 200+ on the year (one of those; Harris is out for the year though if not mistaken. Big loss. He went out against Edmonson and was one of only a couple two way starters for the Hawks at TE/WR and FS).
