VELVET CLOSER Wrote:This will really tell everyone what Ashland has. GW is a mediocre team in 3A West Virginia. With Johnson Central taking down the 3 ranked team in WV and Pikeville putting a running clock on the 4 ranked team in WV 2A. Then one would think that the top 10 tomcats team in KY 3A should easily handle the mediocre 3A team from WV. This should be a running clock for a top KY team.

Ashland 28
GW. 22

You were correct about the running clock although maybe you had a typo on your prediction. Ashland has had some easy games so far this season. Hester is shifty and hard to bring down. Pittman is a guy who can take it all the way given a crease of daylight. Gregg has proven to be a decent QB so far. The O-Line has been solid as they should be. The defense is still undersized but they do run to the ball and gang tackle. We will learn a little more about the Tomcats over the next couple of weeks as they travel to a Wheelersburg team who is desperate for a win and then welcome Ironton at home. How they do against the physical play of Ironton will be telling with regards to how the Russell game might go because Ironton and Russell are similar in the way they try to win.

I take it you are a Johnson Central fan. Make no mistake, Ashland is no Johnson Central and would be steamrolled by them, but thankfully for them they don’t have to play them this season.
