Cancel the 2020 fall sports season? Fine. Keep quarantining and social distancing in effect for another year? No problem. Begin the next academic year online? Bring it on, baby! In my six-plus decades living in these blessed mountains and on this planet, I’ve learned to not second-guess leaders just to make my own situation more convenient—and I’ve grown to distrust shortcuts.

I’m actually kinda surprised that so much doom, gloom and negativity has found its way onto a football forum (of all sports), but a sign of the times, I suppose. Back in the day, football built character, toughness and resolve. Things change, I guess...or maybe I’m just gettin’ old.

But I do know that no matter how long it takes to outlast/overcome this pandemic and no matter how much we collectively lose as a result, I’ll be here to celebrate once things return to some semblance of normal. I’ll cherish it all even more, and I plan to do it with ALL of my loved ones (not just the young and healthy).

Nut up, folks. I don’t know about some of y’all, but this country boy CAN survive.
