[Old School Hound]

Back in 2017, I was on my way to TN to view the Great American Eclipse. Along the way , I had accumulated  a playlist of a number of songs that were, in one way or another, relevant to the solar eclipse that I was to view that day.  This song was one that I listened to that morning on my way to view the GAE:

to see if it was safe outside

For this one, I will award an extra 1/2  point  if you name the writer of the song  and another  1/2  point if you name the band who reached #1 on the charts with this song early in '77. (can't believe I was only 14 when this song topped the charts)
