Is it possible, if he said he'd hit him a third time while responding to the opposition's question, that it was a retort worthy of the question? Meaning, Tuck thought it was a stupid question, as do I, and responded with a stupid answer designed to get under there skin. That seems the most plausible explanation to me, knowing the alledged culprits as well as I do.

The point is, him saying that could have been for much better reasons than it being true. considering time and place. I wouldn't have dignified the question with an answer, but if I did, I would've said the exact same thing. I find it near impossible knowing the people that Grim did it on purpose or Tuck had anything to do with it. Funny thing is, I could find out if I wanted, but again, it's a silly notion not worthy of effort or answering. Of course, that's just my opinion.
