Democrats haven't exactly been known for being very smart when it comes to things like winning elections. I hope Trump is the GOP nominee but I'm doubting that he will be. What will be interesting is what Trump will do if he loses. He has no loyalty to any party and he won't accept losing gracefully. He seems to despise Desantis' encroaching on his own popularity with GOP voters.  I could see him running  an Independent if he loses to Desantis in order to foil the GOP victory. 

Also, if it looks like Trump is on the path to victory in the GOP primary, it will be interesting to see if Liz Cheney enters the race as an Independent to foil Trump. I saw an interview where she was asked about this scenario and all she would say is that she will do whatever she has to do to see that he will never become President again.
