It's not just GOP insiders who have had enough of Trump, there are many of us who voted for Trump twice and believe that the election was stolen from him in 2020, who do not want to see another octogenarian president. Democrats are making a huge mistake continuing to engage in witch hunts against Trump. He may be the only Republican who could possibly lose to a candidate as bad as Joe Biden or Kamala Harris in 2024. They should be trying to make it easier for him to win the Republican nomination. A debate between Ron DeSantis and Joe Biden would be borderline elder abuse.

Democrats haven't exactly been known for being very smart when it comes to things like winning elections. I hope Trump is the GOP nominee but I'm doubting that he will be. What will be interesting is what Trump will do if he loses. He has no loyalty to any party and he won't accept losing gracefully. He seems to despise Desantis' encroaching on his own popularity with GOP voters.  I could see him running  an Independent if he loses to Desantis in order to foil the GOP victory. 

Also, if it looks like Trump is on the path to victory in the GOP primary, it will be interesting to see if Liz Cheney enters the race as an Independent to foil Trump. I saw an interview where she was asked about this scenario and all she would say is that she will do whatever she has to do to see that he will never become President again.
