I dont think the 3-0 green light is the biggest genius , gutsy or whatever coaching decision here at all  The biggest question of all is why would you even pitch to him on a 3-0 count to begin with? What was the coaching thought process behind that?
99% of time you anticipate the hitter is taking that pitch. Makes no sense to me to do that with your best hitters. Most coaches would have taken the pitch but Simpkins put his faith in his best hitter as he should and rest is history. I’ll say it again this game should have been for the Championship. Nothing against any of the other teams but these are the 2 best in region regardless of what happens tonight. It is hard to get back up after that type of game. Hopefully Pikeville can.
