There are some definite contenders for a state title on these lists.

Agreed, A lot of talented team's mentioned on these lists. Hopefully some championships will be brought back to the mountains this year.

If I was to pick my preseason favorites on these lists to bring home a championship, I'd have to start in 1a and go with Pikeville.  If I understand correctly Belfrey is in 2a, be interesting to see how they do there. In 4a right now I give the slight nod to Corbin over JC. That's just talking mountain teams. Overall PT, Boyle, Franklin Co., Cub Catholic, Highlands, Ashland.  4a is no joke lol but I'll go with PT and Boyle as the 4a favorites at the moment. 

Now welcome to Kongs geography 101   Here we include Ashland and Raceland in the mountains.  Ashland borders WV which is mountains along with southern Ohio, again mountains.  Ashland and Raceland are located in Appalachia KY. If a area is located in Appalachia then it's mountains in Kongs geography book
