Shelby Valley vs East Ridge predictions and bets
#98
crazytaxidriver Wrote:Good try but i should have been more specific..

How does the qb situation size up.
Who has the better backs
Who has the better receivers
Which line is stronger
How do the linebackers play against the run
How does the secondary cover the pass
Will either team pass
Can Ratliff's D stop Saunders O

I think this game will be a pretty good game. Neither team is a powerhouse, they are both mediocre, and they have a common opponent in a mediocre Pike Central. SV won on a bad snap, East ridge lost on a last minute drive.
Common opponents don't really mean squat, but it's a way to size each other up.

Oh and earlier someone said they are off to the best start ever, and i'm surprised someone from valley hasn't said this already, but, if i'm not mistaken they went 9-0 one year before they met Belfry, and they got creamed. This was back when dusty hall was the running back.

The qb situation...SV's Tyler Johnson will be in his last game tonight, as he is having surgery next week, and he has been on a tear all season long so far, throwing 11 touchdown passes, and the qb for ER, I think is David Ratliff, is an okay qb, last year he played well against Valley, but not good enough where he could give them some trouble this year.

Backs- Definately Valley, Cody Mitchell is running the ball very well this season, he is a big bruiser and will take it right at the defense. ER has some small backs, but like with PC, Valley contained the fast backs, and prevented them from running outside.

Recievers- Lucas Simpkins is, IMO, one of the best in the mountains, and I've said this for a while, he goes up for the ball at it's highest point and more than often comes down with it. Colby Newsome is also a good reciever, along with his brother Taylor Newsome. On the other hand, I don't know much about the ER recievers.

Line-From what I've saw of ER, their line looks average. Valley has a big 3 that anchor their line in Tyler Cable, John Johnson and Daniel Gillespie. They are all benching over 250, and squatting over 400. Shelby Valley's line will control the line of scrimmage tonight.

Valley's linebackers play very well against the run. Jonah Justice and Cody Mitchell are in on about every tackle. Though, ER also has some good ones. I think Michael Rowe, if he still plays LB, was a very good one. Tough kid. Whichever LB corps plays better will be a key to this game.

SV will pass around 15-20 times tonight. Don't know about ER. Valley lieks ro run run run run, then open it up. This worked very well against Midland Trail.

IMO, I don't think Ratliff's D can stop the O of Saunders. Valley has put up a lot of points this season, and they know how to score. They also run the ball very well.

I look for SV to run away with this game, by 2 or 3 touchdowns.
