Apple Bowl Predictions and bets: Johnson Central @ Paintsville
#74
Golden Eagle Wrote:Its funny when Paintsville wins over Johnson Central you never hear about the enrollment of Paintsville but then JC wins it usually one of the first excuses you hear. Why would I take your word on the running up the score issue either? You and ole PC_U_KNOW_98 are thick as soup. You like PC 98 have been spreading the blue tinted gospel for years on the other site. Am I correct Blackcat or was it Mongoose? No wait it was both. You can say that it was the super bowl and stretch the truth about 5-6 generations being on the field all you want but we both no that game was the turning point of this Apple Bowl rivalry as we know it today. That game marked the beginning of what I believe will be absolute dominance in this rivalry and there’s nothing that the tigers can do about it. The proof is in the pudding. Good night all I'm going to bed. We'll pick this back up tomorrow.

Yeah I was Mongoose and it was Blackcatfan, not blackcat and I don't really care, glad that you can remember that though. Spreading the gospel, do I think they will win??? NO, I just hope it is competitive there What Do I know. Find one post on here where I said Paintsville is going to win this game I haven't, so I don't know how its spreading anything. I said from the get go that JC will go 13-1, I've told everyone that. Do I still live for this rivalry, no, I've got the Keg of Nails and Black-Out Thursday to look forward to when the Cards take on Cincy and West Virginia. I said many times if I root for any team its going to be JC because my cousin goes to school over there. If I was speaking through my blue tinted gospel would I have given some JC players advice about what to run and expect in the game against Paintsville? No I wouldn't have, but I did, so if you don't believe me on that, ask Tommy Taylor if I did? Yeah me and PC are thick as soup, bloods thicker than water, and he is my cousin. But I do remember my oldest brother telling me that and why would he lie, he hates Paintsville sports thats why he never played. If you say it didn't happen I'd like to see you take it up with him, he'll tell you it did happen so don't shoot the messenger. Paintsville's talent is down and everyone knows that, it may be a while until they get it built back up to the teams they used to have, so yeah I agree JC may dominate this rivalry for a while. And yeah I probably did stretch the 5-6 generation thing, its more like 3-4. The Ashland Daily ran an article about when Bill Tom Ross came to JC it said that one of the main reasons he was hired was because his winning tradition against Paintsville back in his days at Raceland. I don't see Paintsville bringing in coaches that traditionally beats Central. 3 years, 3 different coaches, 3 new systems is hard on any kids. Maybe that is why Central was in the dumps a few years back because they changed coaches like underwear. I'm glad they got one, and a good one, and are sticking with him. I hope he stays there until his toes point up, because if he does good things will definately continue to happen. Why most people bring up the size factor about when Paintsville beats Central because it should embarrass Central for letting a school with about 100 boys 7-12 beat a team that has about a 5:1 ratio in that department, if they beat them they are supposed to. I just wish they'd do away with the game, nothing but trouble comes out of it. One year a coach got his tires burnt, chickens let loose on JC's field, practice sleds get burnt up, schools get painted. No, I never took part in any of this, I thought it was rediculous, and after the games I didn't go celebrate I went home, it was just no big deal to me and never got caught up in the hype. Why don't they just use this week to have an Apple Day Classic to take place for the departed Big Sandy Bowl. Cut the Barrell in half, let each school have their emblem and all their colored plaques and be done with it. It'd save this same old stuff from happening every year. Most of the people that get fired up about this game are the fans not the players. No one can sit there and say that Steve Trimble and Steve Whitaker doesn't live to beat Paintsville. I remember when we were practicing Trimble would drive by all the time to watch us, sure he may go to Church behind the field, but I know churches don't have revivals every week Monday-Friday. So if you all want to get your rocks off saying how bad JC will beat Paintsville and hoping they hang 100 on the board, go ahead. This rivalry has turned into something much more and its a shame. People from JC will use their victories and sit around on the front porch and talk about it when they are 80 saying remember when we beat Paintsville. Paintsville people I'm sure will do the same, its just a game, and all this hog wash has taken the fun out of it from a spectator/former player's point of view. Let the kids play. You have your 4 years of high school to do something about it, but it should stop right there and not be carried on down the line and kept with you until the day you die. That's why I really could give two scoops of poopy less about if Central or Paintsville wins the next 100 in a row. Doesn't matter to me, I went 2-2 during my time at Paintsville and I'm leaving it at that. 4 good games, friendships, and memories is what I'm taking with me, but the hatred for the opposition stopped after that Apple Bowl night back in 2002. I just hope most people will start to do the same, and come and rally behind both respectful clubs that our county as a whole has to offer.
