I am disappointed to say that we have watered down our schedule and done nothing really to improve on a pathetic season last year. My son plays at Rowan and he is completely demoralized with the direction the program has taken. On the other hand i have a nephew playing for Powell County. Powell has hired a top notch head coach and very good assistants to turn their program around. I also hear they are giving the coach complete control of the program there. This sounds like a winning formula to me. But here at Rowan we have coaches that don't come to weightlifiting or even come by and see the players now that the season is over. I bet spring ball will be horrible. I am considering taking my son to Fleming county to play. I don't know what to do as parent because i see the dismal picture. But i don't want to pull my son out of his school due to having poor football coaches and a terrible administratoin. It is time to bring back coach Gary McDowell and get back to winning against regional opponents. We lost to Gallatin County this past year. They had never played a football season before and we got crushed by them. The players know it is the coaching and want to win and work hard but have no real leadership or quality in the coaching staff. We had coaches almost fist fighting during games last year. If there are any coaches reading this or somebody who has been around high school sports alot what do you suggest?
