Academics and athletics aren't on the same page in my opinion. Academics is understandable because your brain will take you somewhere, make you someone, why not challenge yourself to be better prepared for college. Athletics are done for leisure. Who care's what your kids win-loss record is. If you are good enough teams will find you no matter where you are or who you play for. Take them to camps to get them exposure if you have to, send out tapes, stat sheets, hire a recruiter for them, and so on. To jump ships for athletic purposes only isn't right. If they are an athlete and their parents have their education in mind as the main priority to take them to a different school and luck out that new school is gifted in the athletic department then there shouldn't be a problem with it. As far as kids at JC from out of county originally I can only think of 2 right off the top of my head, and I think both of them come in during middle school or entering high school.
