Excellent analysis EKU...Don't forget about Ross McCoy, who was very good this year, and several other good RBs for Pikeville. The key in getting back to the Pikeville of old is getting all the players out IMO, making sure the JH and little league programs are top-notch (not playing people 2 years older than them and the HC being at ALL these games like Hillard Howard always was), loosening up on the kids a little in the off season so they are not burned out, and hitting more in practice instead of standing around talking until everyone is rolling their eyes and blue in the face. Said from many people that there are way too many team meetings which go on and on and on and on and on with the coaches talking and talking and talking until it completely wears the kids out. And again, this coaching staff needs an assistant or two who are from Pikeville...it would mean a great deal. They should beg Ben Howard and Jason Howell to join the staff, and then they would have a staff second to none in the mountains. Both of those guys care about the Pikeville kids and the program more than anyone in the world.

Of course I will get slammed for my comments, but I am just trying to help. Just passing along the consensus of what is being said by 90% of Pikeville fans, who were here long, long ago and will be here long, long after...

So you mean to tell me that Pikeville has no coaches that are actually from Pikeville? Well I beg to differ considering that I went to PIkeville my entire life and I am on the coaching staff there now. My name is Jason "Gravy" Anderson and I am going into my 3rd straight year as a varsity assistant. I also helped coach on the varsity level in 2002. In 2004 I was co-head coach of the jr. high team. I helped them as much as I could the past two years as well. I also helped with the little league program this year. And also coached some freshman and JV games the past two years. I have also given plenty of time to Pikeville's little leagie and senior league baseball programs. I coached two straight 13-14 year old All-Star teams and did pretty well with them both. We won district and area both years. In 2003 I was the coach for a senior league team, one of the little league teams coaches quit so I took them over as well having two teams and two practices and two sets of games. Oh and for the record I'll guarantee that nobody loves and cares about this program as much as I do. If you look at the jr. high coaches right now (they help on Friday nights for varsity) both of them are Pikeville alum. Matt Branham and Paul Sullivan are their names. This was Matt's 3rd year with the jr high and Paul's second. That makes three total Pikeville alum that help with the football program. That is three more than you claim is out there. Maybe if your computer could wheel itself around the football field, so you could hide behind it, then you would come out and help coach. I love the guys on this staff and respect them all very much. They work their tails off everyday even if you don't approve. Maybe if you were on staff everything would be much better and everyone would love us. I don;t want to seem like a smart alec but I must correct the false statements that were posted on here. I hope the truth helps people who read this thread.
