Dont forget the Egyptian calendar ends also.

The Mayan calender is a long-count calender, it is designed when it ends to start back over at 0 and go again.

Although I will say there are some phenomenal astro-physical events predicted to occur at this time. An alignment of the planet that has only happned a handful of times in history, a magnetic shift in Earth's poles, couples with a magnetic shift in the SUn's poles. Geological history shows this has happened before and when it has, continents have moved hundreds if not thousands of miles in the blink of an eye, its gonna happen again. Since the Mayans had an understanding of the sun that even today we don't have, this could be why they selected this date for the end of their calender, who knows for sure.

If you want to really get into something intriguing, look up out of place artifacts. Some very strange stuff there. For example spark plugs that are over 500,000 years old?? That still has me baffled. Proof that the Earth has seen a fulls cale nuclear war before. Everytime a nuke goes off it leaves an unmistakable trail that last for millions and millions of years, tests have shown these to be found all over earth.
