47K sounds a little high. Just two years ago I read the median income in KY was 32K, which souds closer to real than 47K.

It could be high. I got it from Wikepedia. But look at three of the bigger employers in the area Federal Prison, hospitals, and coal mines. I think the average miner earns around 63k a year. The prisons average income is about 60k a year. So add in the hospitals. 32k a year would sound a little low to me for a house hold. Especially with two incomes.
