Nobody is entitled to serve in the military. The purpose of the military is to protect our national security by killing enemies and blowing up things when necessary. The military has done a good job performing that function over the years without openly gay citizens serving. Many gay people have distinguished themselves in battle without trumpeting their sexual preference to their comrades in arms.

The military is not an appropriate platform for gay activists to make political statements. The current policy toward gays in the military is working just fine and it should not be changed to win a few votes in 2012.
