Corbin 2015
My bold prediction on Corbin

Redhounds lose the District but Win the Region.

I think Bell gets Corbin on Log Mountain in the Regular Season... but I think this young and talented team peaks in late October and November and get revenge on the Bobcats and gives Belfry a tough battle in the Semi's.

I will say 8-4.. close losses to Southwestern and Bell in the regular season. Loss to Mayfield and an eventual competitive loss to Belfry in the Semi's.
SEKYFAN Wrote:Is Greg Duncum back on the Corbin coaching staff?

Pretty sure this is true. Greg is a great guy Confusedinglepar
64sur says its so. That would make them 11 coaches on staff...! I say Corbin loses 2-3 game in regular season. Mayfield, SW are games that I would hate to bet they win with a sophomore at QB. They win Bell tho, at Log Mtn late in the year...
It was easy to dislike Corbin with Jewell running it.
You just simply cant with Haddix. I think I more or less expected an arrogant jerk, and found the exact opposite. Corbins best move since Archie and Cotton IMHO.

If youre a kid in Corbin coming threw that program, you've got to be much happier with what you got now and the way things are run.

I dont expect Bell to play Corbin as close as they did last year.
Who will fill the voids of reedy, oniell, and razmus on defense in the secondary.

Some names I have heard include Ellison, French, Davis, Mitchell & Barton.

Ellison, Murphy, French, Dixon, and possibly maguet and Mitchell.

Teams such as Bourbon County, Mason County, Wayne County, Lawrence County, Henry County, Pike Central, Estill, and Larue are usually very productive 2nd tier teams. 3A has more parity at the top than almost every other class with 5A being the only class that could be considered to have the same. 6A definitely has the premiere teams at the top with Trinity, St.X, and Male and some quality 2nd tier teams due to the size of the schools, but the bottom of 6A has trouble competing just like the other classes. If I were ranking the strength of the Classes it would be as follows:

1-) 5A
2-) 6A
3-) 3A
4-) 2A
5-) 1A
6-) 4A

I would give 5A the edge due to more quality teams at the top and the ability to still compete with the top of 6A.

You didn't even mention the addition of Caldwell Co and Bardstown, who, won't be an easy out for anyone..

Caldwell County, are you kidding me. They have only been in the semi's 3 times in their history. Only been in the 3rd round 4 0r 5 times in their history, and Mr Kentucky football is gone, not to mention Jaylen Boyd they will be back to being a slightly above average team, and being in the top 10 will be rare for Caldwell.
I still say that Corbin will win all games but 2. From what I hear the Qb has been lights out as of late. And will be even better when he can tuck it and run. I think the weakness will be at WR and LB.. I am positive that the overall Defense will be very, very good... The D line will be as good as anyone's in 3A. And I expect the offensive Line to be better than I previously thought. 2-3 really good backs will help the QB too.

lights out and the season has even started? lights out in a flag football game?
Yep. Where was Whitley in the flag football games?

at Union.
I'm going to say Corbin loses 2-3 games. I wouldn't bet on SW or Mayfield. Think they will Beat Bell.
Haddix and Greer will have the Hounds in the mix as the season progresses. I kept tryin to tell a few on here that the young man knew the game and deserved the shot he was given.

I think so too.
What are the size of the kids on the OL and DL as well as in the backfield this year?
Quarterback is as big as linemen. He is a load. Big kid with good feet and a live arm. Expect big things.
Does anybody know when, who, and where Corbin scrimmages this year?
Aug 13 at Corbin
Harlan Co and Leslie Co
Which players are going to be replacing coppock & nantz this year in the backfield. Some of the parents have told me brock, jewell, carter & french are getting looks, seems like im forgetting someone though. I kinda thought brock & jewell would start at linebacker. Will they have some players starting on both sides this year?
I'm thinking it will be Jewell and Carter. Brock might get a few touches as well.
Brock will be at LB.... Might be a goal line back. Keep hearing the OL and DL are coming along great.... Qb still improving as well. I'm telling you. He will be a load to bring down if he takes off. There will be no jersey tacked on this young man. Jewell is a beast, quick feet and runs north and south.
I think as long as the kid they've got playing QB does well and doesn't have major problems then I think they have no problem with Mayfield. SouthWestern on the other hand is a different story IMO. I think SW is the toughest opponent on the schedule.

I didn't say that as a parting shot to Mayfield. Its something I truly believe. Make no mistake about it, this Corbin team will (or let me say should) be much better than that Wburg team you beat by a point last year.

I think you'll be surprised at what Mayfield is walking into, but as I said it really all depends on how there new QB adjust to being the starter and if he gets the job done.

I know this game is going to be played at Lindsey Wilson, are they also going to play there again next year?
Also, does anyone have the all time record? I know they met a couple of times in the 70's didn't they, including a state title game?
Corbin putting on the Pigskin every year and not having to ever return that game gives them a great deal of being able to schedule a neutral site game like a Mayfield.

Id love to see Whitley and Corbin host a bowl game together much like Mboro and Bell did with the City/County bowl for years. The two schools could play at Cumberland every year or rotate it each year. Or, what I think is the best ideal, host two good teams from around the state to play each other in game 1 every year and follow it up with the Corbin/Whitley game, and play it on a Saturday. Crazy good money that could be split.
I'd like to see them take it a step further. Play for a traveling trophy. Something to do with the whole county. Like maybe "the Cumberland falls rock" or something of that nature. And something that would mean something to both schools.

You are judging off 1 game. A game they still won. Even saying that don't you think Williamsburg improved a lot from the year before after returning a lot of starters, well we expect Mayfield to be better this year to. In this last 6 year run that Mayfield made it to state since 09, last years team would be near the bottom. 10, 12, and 13 where definitely better, and id say a healthy 11 team was better, id only place 14 ahead of 09, but barely. If you judge just by 1 game then do you think Corbin will be much better than Desales? Lets not forget Mayfield beat Murray by more than Desales did, of course maybe Desales didn't play there A game either. I think you will be impressed with Mayfield this year, but it depends on there young line. I don't blame someone for picking Corbin, but to say they will have no problem with them is a stretch. I expect it to be a pretty good game, and Mayfield to win. The record is 2-1 Mayfield having the lead. Corbin won in 76 title game, Mayfield in the 77 title game, Then Mayfield in the rec bowl in I think 80, but not sure about the year. I do remember hearing that the year Mayfield won in the rec bowl Corbin ended up winning the title.
