2019 4A Preseason Rankings
#55PirateFan Wrote:You should just worry about if your Tomcats will actually show up this time if they draw the Pirates and not forfeit again. These seniors are that 8th grade team yall refused to play. We'll need that tune up game before going into the championship.

Who are the Tomcats? Is that Virgie HS?

No FoSho not even Virgie would be called a Tomcat

Not sure if they’ll be better then last year but yea, they’ll be really really good this year. The only team in 4A that can beat them IMO is Boyle and even Boyle would have to play their best to beat them.

The biggest difference between these two teams is speed. JC would struggle to cover all of the weapons the Rebels have. I think people underestimate just how good the Boyle Co passing game is...until they see it in person. I honestly believe Boyle Co is much better than last year even with the defections from last years team due to injury.

On a side note....from what I have been told, camp went VERY well. The team is focused and ready to win #9.

GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!

I think that Boyle is a more balanced attack on offense and has great speed and definitely the favorites in 4A but don’t count the ground and pound out of JC. But the best thing of your post is the last GO REBELS, are you coping me FOSHO

That JC doesn’t have a lot of team speed is a common misconception most people have about JC. They have team speed. Ryley Preece, Dylan Preston, and Cody Rice all are kids that can fly. Devin Johnson and Hunter McCloud can cover a lot of ground at linebacker. JC will still pound it but they also have a lot of team speed.

I know those kids well and I know they're fast but they aren't track state Champion fast. Boyle Co will be a different kind of animal than you've ever played.

Good luck this season, I hope we get to see that game happen and for once I'd like to not have to travel to see it. Smile

JC is a really good team.

So is Boyle Co.

Should be fun!

Both teams are really good and I don’t see any way those 2 teams don’t meet up in the playoffs. It’ll be a hard nosed well played game. Whoever plays the best game will walk away with the W.

Good luck to you all as well. I have no skin in the game. My son plays for LC now. Just a fan of 2 great teams.
I think it’s fair to say Boyle is usually underestimated for its elite speed all across the field. JC is by no means slow and has some players that have good but not elite speed. JC has done a better job of scheduling teams that have speed especially at the skill positions during the regular season to help prepare for championship level speed. FoSho is absolutely right it would be an extremely tough matchup speed wise for JC.

It’s also fair to say that JC is often underestimated for its championship level strength. There’s a reason why they have one of the states top rushing attacks every year. The team is big at every position and has great blocking technique. Boyle is by no means soft/weak and has a lot of strong players but that would be a tough matchup for them as well to handle the strength across the board that Jc has.

I would love to see that matchup this year, but it’s a long season and there are a lot of really solid teams this year in 4A that could trip either team up.
Judging by what I saw from both teams last year when I saw them, I think any JC vs. Boyle matchup would be a doozie.

If I had to make a prediction last year in November I would have gave Boyle by the slightest of edges because they were more apt to make an XP or a FG and not leave any points on the field.

This year I will reserve the right o make a prediction as both teams return a lot.

I would say a tossup entering the season.
OutlawJoseyWales Wrote:So what about the district with Scott, Holmes, Harrison, Rowan and Boyd? Who's the favorite there? Any of those teams able to make any noise? I know Rowan and Boyd Co have been a mess for years....but what about Scott? Harrison?

not very good.
FoSho Wrote:Anderson Co since 3rd grade thru 2016 - played them.

LexCath since middle school - played them.

Wayne Co 2017 & 2018 - played them.

Knox Central - haven't, just what I've heard and what they have returning.

Any other questions?

You played in the pee wee football league against other toddlers from Anderson County so you know they are way better than Wayne County lol. I think you are birdbrain55's alter ego.

I disagree with FoSho on a lot of stuff but Boyle has that next level speed, I go to a lot of track meets and there kids hung in there with both Scott County(state runners-up in 3A track) and Henry Clay( Langston Jackson fastest guy in state history) every time. Yes, I no track is totally different from football when you cross them white lines, but you better keep contain and back them DB's up. I was shocked myself with there speed. Good luck to all!!!

We know Anderson Co talent very well, played against them every year thru 2016. Wayne Co last season and the season before (their Final Four team). Based upon what I saw last season @ Wayne Co, Anderson Co would dominate them on the line (both sides of the ball).

Trust me.
pjdoug Wrote:not very good.

What do you know about those teams? 🙄
I like both teams very very much and there’s no doubt that Boyle Co has speed. However I think to beat Johnson they’re gonna have to be able to run Bartelson between the tackles. If they get him going along with the passing game it’s a hard combination to stop...

Buddy I’d love to lie to you but unfortunately I had to work and wasn’t able to attend. I’ve also been unable to talk to anyone that I consider a reliable source as to how they actually done. From what I have seen so far we are young in some spots and will have to grow up quickly but the talent is there...The beginning of the season may not be a good indicator of where they can be towards the end but again that depends on some of the kids putting on their big boy britches...

Haddix will get them ready by November.
Corbin will struggle early do to youth. That doesn’t necessarily mean losses. We all know you can win ugly even against good teams. But they will be tested.

Really appreciate you being classy and I agree with you, my response would be this group being tested is exactly what this group needs...
