"Batpuff" Wrote:WOW what a game!
Shawn Thompson 25 points 9 rebounds 5 assist 3 steals and 1 block
Kyle Bradley 18 points
Chandler Thompson 14 points

They had no answer for Shawn, he controled the game under the basket, and when he was double and tripled who just pass it to the wide guard for the three, then when they went man to man know one could guard him. Mitch Copley played a great game as well was able to get his stats.

Kyle Rice and Jamie McCarty might have reach double figures not sure, if they did it surprised me, not saying they didnt but it sure didnt look like it.

And yes the officals in this game really sucked ***. but they were more for The eagles, we had two players fouled out on cheap *** calls.

Let them complain about the lighting that it was too dark.... Not they just put new lights up over the court today!

I think Sean Music done an outstanding job on Shawn! I think he scored only two points while he was guarding him and had him frustrated. I don't understand why we went back to zone. I don't know what game you were at but I know that Shawn Thompson should have at least had seven maybe eight fouls but sammy and wendall was too afraid to call anything. Even the LC bench took him out in the 2nd qtr. because they thought he had three but they called in on the other Thompson who was no where around the play. I will agree with you on one aspect and that is that the officials sucked both ways but don't sit there and tell me that Central got more calls. I will not use any excuse for Central but I am glad that we need a wake call now instead of tourney time. I think we played hard but the lights didn't have anything to do with our shot selection. Maybe we can realize that we can be good but nobody is going to roll over for us!!! We have to play hard every minute of every game!!!!

"Batpuff" Wrote:Yes I am because they were horrible not just LC way but JC way as well, and yea it was P-ville fans that said that but I wanted to get it cleared up before they could use it as an excuse.

If they would just call it even both ways then I wouldnt complain about them, We took about 6 charges and they dont call anything then in the 4th qtr they call two on us that was bull crap calls, if they would have called them to start with it wouldnt have been so bad, but when we were down two with about 4 mins to go in the game then they call it, come on.

The place was packed to the rafters tonight, had a district tourney fill to it. Both student sections was great, had both pep bands there, it was just a great game, both teams left it out on the floor.

How about the times when Thompson ran over are guys and nothing was called? And the time when a LC player ran over a JC player and nothing was called? How about the time when Rice went to the goal with Thompson having 4 fouls and knocked Rice to the ground and pushed him out of bounds and just called nothing? I agree with the officials sucking on both sides but don't complain about not getting any calls because you got plenty!!! By the way congrats to LC and to Thompson!! He is by far the best player that I have seen play this year. Is he getting any offers?

I don't think many people feel that way. I have read on here that South Floyd was the best and yada, yada, yada!!!! I can't help that some kids get on here and say crazy things but be realistic. This region is wide open and at least 10 teams could win this region. Do you agree? My personal opinion is that Central will have a hard time getting out of the district!! But on the other hand they could win this region. It is WIDE OPEN!!! :insane:

Lets see, its like i said before, how many time did we stand in there and take a charge and nothing was called, I know of about 6, and then they call two on us toward the end of the game, when the game was still up for grabs, and yet how many times did JC try and take a charge i might have seen 1 they they tried to take. And were you get that he should have had 7 or 8 fouls take the blinders off, i cant count how many times he got hit while shooting and nothing was called. And where you get that he knocked Rice to the floor, I have no Idea, what I saw was a blocked shot. I agree the offical were horrible, if they would call it like it should then we wouldnt have this talk, but when they call it one way for 3 1/2 qtrs and then start calling it another way, have no clue. And they took him out because they wanted to keep him from picking up a cheap foul and to give him a blow.

And it goes to show you that even with him out of the game with 2 min to go that we were able to still find a way to pull it out.

I know he has had several letters sent but they cant offically make a offer until after the season is over with if I am not mistaking.

Was a great game no need to take away from it with all the back and forth talk about the officals.

Lets just face it. Shawn Thompson is the best player in this region.....hands down. I get so tired of reading the Landon vs. Jamie threads. Neither one could carry Shawn Thompson's gym bag to the locker room. I really dont see all the hype about McCarty at all. He is a pretty decent player, but man what terrible shot selection. He didn't impress me at all last night.

There is one thing for sure , that ever since Lawrence moved to the 15th region, I will have to say that I have yet to see the first well called game by any set of officials. Hope you all have not had to put up with this junk every year. Wendall Wallen may in fact be the worst that I have ever watched. I dont think that either team benefited or was hurt more by the calls. It is just awful who calls in this region. They are all bad.

No, they can make offers right now. I dont think that he can sign anywhere just yet, but they can make offers and he can verbally commit.

Like I said before those calls were called earlier in the game on the other players but in the fourth quarter they were not called on Thompson. What angle did you have when Rice was knocked to the floor! Oh that was when you had the blinders on!!! :thumb: I was sitting behind the LC bench and they said that is three get him out as soon as the foul was called. I am not arguing that we got ripped off because we did not! It was just a bad officiated game with both teams getting ripped a few times but to say it was one sided like you did was going to the extreme. It was a great game and it should be left at that. This district is wide open but to say that we got calls down the stretch is kind of crazy!! The bottom line is LC hit there free throws and we didn't. Until JC gets in their mind that they have to play hard at all times we might not win another game this year.:HitWall: Good luck to Thompson and I hope that is the last time we have to see him unless it is in district finals!!!!!

Well to start with I was standing on the floor and could see it, and I never once said that it was one sided. I said that they had not called a charge all night, and then they called two on us within 2 possesions.

It was a great game and its like I said that they both left it all on the floor.

Everyone ranks McCarty at top five in the region....they must have a reason why

He may very well be, but there is a huge gap betweem where ever he lies and to where Shawn Thompson sits. The thing that I have also noticed about McCarty and Thompson is that Thompson makes his teammates better, I cant say that about the times that I have watched McCarty play.

wonder how much Les Trimble enjoyed this game
#45
You have no clue, I was in the locker room after the game and they was all enjoying it, and they all had smiles on there faces.
#46
Congrats Lawrence i thought JC would have got this one.

I can name about 5 reasons that JC isn't winning right now:
1. Can't Hit Free Throws
2. Won't Rebound
3. Big Egos
4. No Hustle or Heart
5. McCarty shooting them out of the game

I agree with your top four and somewhat on number five.

I think the best thing about the Dawgs is that they genuinely care about each other..they are always encouraging each other on the floor and off the floor in their private lives. Those are things the kids are gonna remember long after the season is over.:thumb:

bballmama, you are so correct, they have grown as a team and really care about the others on there team. It was unreal in the locker room to see them all in the middle of the floor and just yelling and carring on to the music that they had playing. So happy to be playing ball for the Lawrence Co Bulldogs. And to see other coached coming in there shows what a tight family they have at LC.

This was an impressive win for Lawrence County -- probably their most impressive feat to date.
Beating Letcher Central was good and beating a talented Rose Hill team was good. Beating Paintsville to start the season was impressive -- but they had two more key figures they now don't have when they won that game.
On Friday, Randy Anderson demonstrated why he is one of the top sideline men in the Kentucky preps game -- he takes talent and coaches it UP.
Thompson is easily the best player in the region (and yes, I have seen about every candidate) and here is why:
*Ferocious rebounding. He will not only hit alot of his shots, but he will clean up many of his team's misses.
*Deft passing. He spots holes in zones and works out of double teams.
*An ability to score in adverse conditions and against seemingly all odds. Some guys are shooters (Slone of Paintsville) and some guys are just flat out scorers. Thompson is a flat out scorer. Any area on the floor, any angle on the basket, it is all fair game for him.
*Playing back to the basket or facing. Rice is a good post player, but Thompson can KILL a team with his back to the bucket or draw the defense out and force them to respect his range. He has no definitive move or area that you can take away. The best solution is to deny him the ball, as Music did for a period Friday. But like strong venom, he's gonna eventually get you.

As for complaints about the officiating -- the amazing thing in the 15th is an obvious lack of consistency within each game. One period its hockey and blood, the next it is call every little thing.
Eagle Eye, you obviously were watching last night through some heavily tinte gold shades, because if the game had been called on an objective level, the first three guys who tried to guard Thompson would have been gone by halftime. He was shoved to the floor four times in the first half when he had the ball, then decked another three when he was going for the rebound by blatant shoves to the back.
But is is okay to see things from your team's POV -- that is part of what makes you a hardnosed fan!
Plus, his final foul was about as poor a call on the rebound as I've seen when put in context of a very physical game.
I thought Lawrence County got away with some calls as well, particularly on hand checks and reaches on the perimeter, but by and large there was no home court advantage other than fan support for LC.
And JC had plenty of support, too.
To sum it up, Thompson is a dominating player, LC is in the hunt along with a more talented and deeper JC team as well as Paintsville and Sheldon Clark, and the referees in the 15th make the clowns in the NHL look really, really good.
Peace.

Johnson Central beat Lawrence Country in all aspects of the game...boards, assists, steals, deflections, you name it...besides two: free throw percentage and scoring. Lawrence County came out and shot over 50% from the field and JC shot very very poorly. Free throws make the difference in this game, and would have overcame the horrid shooting for the eagles. Good game Lawrence County. But I wouldnt have the mindset of seeing the score in your favor against the eagles next time. Just one of those games eagles, nothing you can do bout it. Keep your heads up and give it that effort every night and things will fall in place.
