Hey everyone, this is Mike Fitzpatrick. If any of these posts on this thread are from Anderson County Football players, please stop posting. You guys have shown amazing poise and sportsmanship throughout this entire year. Don't do something that would tarnish that reputation. There have been some really offensive posts and I know it must hurt, but use this to motivate on the field. You guys remember the hurtful words and use that to prepare for Friday night. Remember you are the "Band of Brothers"!

The best thing about this thread is that all of the fur that's flying is coming from Anderson County and friends. The good folks from Conner have the fans of the defeated doing their work for them.:biglmao:

I do believe this will be a good game and I have read all the posts about these two teams, I understand Bubba's reasoning about Copper beat Conner and Anderson beat Cooper so this should be a win for Anderson. As much as I would like to see a team from Central, Ky go farther. I don't see it, what has not been talked about is when Cooper played Conner and won, the QB for Conner was out with an injury, and in my opion he is one of Conner's key players. The win for Cooper was not that dramatic being 20 to 13. I still am going with my first opinion, Conner will take this. Sorry Anderson it has been a good year.

Class 5A, Region 3 Championship: Anderson County (10-2) at Conner (7-5)
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today at Fred Nevel Stadium, Hebron.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Conner is coming off an 84-48 win over previously undefeated Franklin County in which it rushed for a single-game state record 761 yards and amassed 854 yards total offense, the second-highest single-game total in state history. Anderson County lost to that same Franklin County team, 56-24, and barely beat South Oldham, 33-26, after Conner had defeated South Oldham, 42-22. That doesn't mean this shouldn't be a good game as Anderson County has a 1,000-yard rusher and 2,500-yard passer. Conner junior dual-purpose back Cameron Fogle is expected to played after sitting out the second half of last week's win with a sprained knee. His replacement, sophomore Jesse McKeehan, rushed for 254 yards on 13 carries.
BOTTOM LINE: Conner has played a significantly tougher schedule than Anderson County and performed well against a chunk of it, even in some losses, so as long as the Cougars carry over their second-half defensive performance from last week they should win comfortably to advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 1983.

HEBRON – Conner head football coach Dave Trosper reminded his players Friday night that they accomplished things nobody expected them to this season.
But the words were little consolation in the moments after a heart-breaking 31-30 loss against Anderson County in the Class 5A, Region 3 championship game at Fred Nevel Stadium.
Conner led at halftime and saw its lead slip away in the second half. The visiting Bearcats scored the game-winner on a seven-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Seth Carmichael to senior wide receiver Matt Sprague with 43.6 seconds remaining.
"They fought until the end," Trosper said. "That's the type of kids we have and that's what they're all about. There was no quit in them. They kept going, they kept moving, they kept getting after it.
"We just ran out of time. We lose by one point. They had a great play down on the goal line. They mixed us up, and got us crossed up and did a great job."
It had been 15 years since the Cougars (7-6) played in a region final. They got there by blowing out Franklin County last week in a game that saw them put up a state record 761 rushing yards and 854 total yards from scrimmage.
Anderson County (11-2) lost to Franklin County during the regular season but won its next four to give itself a chance to make school history. The Bearcats had never won a region championship before and now advance to play Southwestern in the 5A semifinals.
"It was a tremendous football game," Anderson County coach Mark Peach said. "They had a tremendous game plan. You watch these guys on film and they are so tremendously well coached. We knew they were going to be hard to fool. We knew it was going to be a knock-down drag-out with them. I'm just so proud of our guys."
Anderson County scored 17 points off three Conner turnovers Friday. Three of those came on a 29-yard field goal by senior kicker Bill Rose with 9:36 remaining in the fourth quarter that put the Bearcats ahead, 24-23.
Conner answered by handing the ball to junior running back Cameron Fogle on a reverse less than 30 seconds later. Fogle ran 70 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 108 yards rushing while sophomore quarterback Drew Barker led all rushers with 111 yards on 23 carries.
The decisive drive started at the 26-yard line and with 4:13 remaining. Anderson County picked up a first down on a pass interference call and a 29-yard pass from Carmichael to Sprague got the ball down to the 13-yard line. Facing fourth and four from the seven-yard line, Carmichael dropped back and found Sprague streaking across the back of the end zone.

His players should remind him that when scoring the 4th quarter to go up 5 you don't kick the PAT for one. You go for 2 in an attempt to stretch the lead to 7 rather than 6. Hello, McFly!!!Anybody in there??

he figured that his defense could hold our offense for one more drive since our offense had not had 1 drive all night long
