Morgan county 2012
#31
I want to clear a few things up I've lived in Morgan county all my life. I keep hearing all these comments going around about a verbal commitment from this one and that on and its kids that hasn't played in years and anyone that knows football know that if you set out even a year then you have lost alot as far as talent, speed, aggressiveness this is high school not college. And why do people keep bring up the 2 eight grade teams that went to state and went 16-1 I mean come on they had 10 hold back both years any one that has a group of kids in the 8th grade that suppose to be JV high school team if you can dominate at a middle level with those kids somethings wrong.I dont take anything away from anyone but less put the whole truth out there and not lie about it. A jv high school team that goes to state 2 years in a role at the middle school level isnt anything to brag about. This year the high school had a great year no doubt but the 3A bracket they moved up to was twice a weak at the 2A bracket they was in years before. So before you start bragging on anything tell the whole truth not things that just make you look good Morgan has alot of talent and after losing the seniors this year will hit the cougars big time. Oh and another this is suppose to be about the kids and the players not coaches that's out there just to be seen the players are whats important not the coaches. The coaches should be behind the seems not always in the spot light it should be the kids.

Let get things straight i keep hearing about that great 8th grade team but what people dont know is that team had 10 hold backs so you had a jv high school team playing at the 8th grade level anyone could have taken them to state. It bad bragging about beating a bunch of 7th and 8th graders with a bunch of hold back.that pretty pathetic
#35
let me tell you there is no better D coordinator that Coach Fugett he know more about football than all the coaches put together and prepares for every game breaks down film prepares scouting reports.
If it wasnt for the D coordinator they would 3-8 instead of 8-3

This hate-filled anonymous garbage is why I have tried for several years to stay off these boards.

Here is the whole truth, Jetspeed: You need to enroll in a remedial language arts class! HAHAHA You might have an easier time passing off your mean-spirited commentary as truth, if it were at least well-written.

2008 Morgan Middle team- 0 holdbacks. 16-1 State Final Four
2009 Morgan Middle team- 2 holdbacks. 13-2 State Runner Up

Should we hide from the success of these teams? These are facts. Should the players and coaches of these teams not be proud of these great years? Is it unreasonable to think that as these kids "come of age"-that they may be able to turn it around at the high school level?

Stop being so mean!! If you have lived in Morgan County your whole life(and followed football), you should know that this past season was a great year for the Cougars.

Yes, we are excited to have great football players decide to come back to the team. Should we be down about it? Maybe we should encourage them to enroll somewhere else and play against us.....

I do agree with you on two points: Coach Fugate is a great asset to our team. We will have a hard time replacing some of our two and three year starters on the line.

Scripture says, "Jealousy is as cruel as the grave", Jetspeed. Drink some of this Double Wing Cougar-Aide and stop hatin' on us!! Oh yeah! Don't forget to sign up for a good remedial course on the English language.

Well another good thread gone down the drain. LOL

Well i don't clam to be a scholar im not perfect but i do know the facts i know all these kids, i don't take anything away from the kids. they had a great year and im glad to see these boys finally have some success. I've been around sports all my life including football. i know all these kids and they are the ones that deserves the spotlight they are the ones that gives the blood, sweat and tears but you have someone running up in the stands like an idot, come on the attention need to be on the kids. Coaches are just a tool the players are the machine behind the force. you quote Scripture like your a man of god if so you need to read the bible more because a true person of god knows that pride is a sin and laughing and talking about people like you did in the last message is not words of a christen, but of a Hippocratic. You have a coach that calls a kid a gutless coward after tearing his ACL is pretty bad, you try to lift kids up and back them not tear them down.

My name is Coach Havens i'm the Morgan County Middle School Head Football coach. I played football here and my kids played football here. All I see is me, me, me the kids are whats important, getting them out and playing and being active. Having them to be a part of something much larger than themselves. We have has so many good athletes slip threw the cracks over the year that its a shame. People on here hide behind a fake name, if you have something to say to someone be man enough to say it to them. I have worked hard over the years coaching kids, hundreds of them. As long as i coach i will put my personal feelings aside and focus on the kids. All kids should be treated the same regardless of who they are. So let us think about the kids and praise them and no ourselves. Lift them up because they are the future. Its sad that everyone cant be on the same page and work together for all the kid. This year we didn't have the success that i would have liked but we had great year. Over all we went 9-4, so that's pretty good. I have encouraged all the eight grade class to play at the high school because that's what breed success.

clam- a mollusk
im-contaction for I am; I needs to capitalized, add an apostrophe, drop the a
idot- a dot with an "i" in it?
god- "G" needs to capitalized
christen- to baptize
Hippocratic-an oath doctors take "I think"

Now, that, right there- is funny.

This thread began with a lot of positive information about the 2011 season, some good stats and analysis about the turn-a-round going on with our program, and some bright hopes of what Cougar fans might look forward to in 2012. Thankfully, Jetspeed has developed a plan for success for Morgan Co. football which includes:

1. Denounce any MS success that has ever occurred in Morgan.
2. Decide that our graduating class can never be replaced. Thus, we shouldn't even think about who might fill their shoes.
3. Fire all of our coaches, except "Fugett". heeheehee, Fugett! (It's FUGATE!!! Spell the man's name right for crying out loud!!!!!)
4. Get on a message board and hide behind an anonymous profile and bad-mouth the program and lie.
5. Refuse to play in our 3-A district as assigned by KHSAA.
6. Never cheer, be excited, or have fun when our kids are doing well.
7. Do not let great athletes come out for football.

Sorry, Jetspeed, I don't think I am the man for the job. So, I guess Morgan will be stuck with hard work, positive energy, love, having fun, and even a little preaching and praying. I hope this formula produces [B]even worse[B] results for us in 2012.

I won't be back on here to read this stuff or argue with you, anymore, Jetspeed. If you want to talk Cougar football with me; from now on, it's going to have to be face-to-face.

I'll leave you with another scripture: Matthew 5Sad11-12) "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets which were before you."

Thanks, Jetspeed. Because of people like you, I AM BLESSED! Satan hates it when a Christian does well and is a positive role model for kids. God bless you all! Hope to see you at Herdman Field this fall. Go Cougars 2012!!!!

You know I was on here just telling the facts. But that was what i wanted the true side of the Great Brian Turner whom suppose to be a preacher. But he judges, laughs at people and puts them down and criticize them . You claim to be a christian but from the messages on here your far from it. You tell me a preacher or a christian that talks to people like that and i will show you a Hypocrite. I don't judge people i love this community and the people here, there good people. The bible says watch out for a wolf in sheep clothing.

Matthew 6:2
So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

John 8:32
We all want freedom from oppressions of all kinds, and whether they manifest physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually they are all burdensome. The Bible tells us that the only way to be free is to know the truth, and it is through that truth that we find freedom.

You see I know the bible to, I've read it many many times. The truth will stand where a lie will fail. (Go Cougars 2012 You are the machine behind the force)

Wingnut keep fighting the good fight you will always face adversity especially being in the public eye. God didn't say being a Christian will be easy and striving to be Christ like is even harder because Satan will try to do all things to bring you down, as you may know. Please excuse those who may not know or understand what coaches try to do and accomplish especially those who have a higher purpose, who use coaching as a platform. Good luck at Morgan County...by the way I love the Double Wing!

And I have lived in Ft. Thomas my entire life and know a whole lot about the game of football. Over the decades I've played and watched Highlands football I've seen plenty of players sit out a year and come back to play great and impactful football.

For the love of Pete I simply cannot understand any poster that would tear down their own school's football program. Particularly when their school has come so far in such a short time. To me it says much, much more about the poster than it does about the program he or she is criticizing.

Also look for Jared Short to be a major contributor for the Cougars in 2012. Jared started in 5 out of 11 games last season and right now is squatting 440 lbs as a soph.. Jared is a "blue collar" type player who has made himself in the weight room. Jared played nose guard for the Cougars last season.
#45
Short has come a long way he will be a big asset to the cougars this year, i love watching these kids grow and strive to be better. They have worked so hard to get where their at. When my two oldest kids was in high school they had 4 coaches in 4 years, every year they had to learn a new system and they never was able to have the success they wanted. Building a successful program is what we are striving for from K-12. Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!

SlantStrong Wrote:Last season's 8-3 record was only the stepping stone to what the Cougars return in 2012. Morgan county returns their entire backfield in Holbrook( RB SR. 3 year starter), Whitt(FB SR. 3 year starter), Thornsberry( RB JR. 2 year starter), Collins( QB SR. 2 year starter). The only senior that graduated from the skill was Kerrick Kidd. Leading rusher for 2011 Holbrook and Best offensive back award winner for 2011 Jordan Whitt return to field alot of experience for the 2012 Cougar football team. Best offensive lineman award winner for 2011 JT Brown( 6-3 240 JR.) returns to anchor the offensive line. The Cougars return the entire core of their defense with Walker Crase( SR. 4 year starter, Defensive MVP, Team's leading tackler) anchoring an experienced unit. Crase(LB SR. 4 year starter), Whitt(LB SR. 3 year starter), Holbrook(LB/DB SR. 4 year starter on defense), Thornsberry( DB JR. 3 year starter on defense), JT Brown( JR. DL. 1 year starter) all return for the Cougar defense which had 3 shutouts and 8 blocked punts last season. This year's senior class for the Cougars finished in the state middle school final 4 playoffs @ Lexington Catholic as 8th graders before losing to John Hardin 22-14. Morgan's JR. class finished state runner-up as 8th graders losing to Somerset in the state middle school championship game at Lexington Catholic with an over-all 13-2 record. The BEST is yet to come for the Morgan county football program.

Morgan's improvement was truly a building process. With all they return it has the makings of "The Season" in 2012.
#47
This Morgan team reminds me of the 2008 Estill team. They have all had to play since being fresh. and have improved each year. 2008 when all these players were seniors, they had an 11-2 season at Estill. Looks like Morgan has the makings of that kind of team.
#48
The true measure you guys are doing it right at Morgan,,,you now have haters.

On hold backs,,I have no Idea how many or if Morgan had any, But I promise that every team their 8th grade played had as many or more hold backs than Morgan. I could name several schools that I know personally held back 10 or more kids. So that argument is invalid, what Morgan accomplished with their middle school teams is truly amazing.
#49
Why would anyone post negativity about a program that was once possibly as bad as anyone in the state and has now shown such a miraculous improvement? Morgan co. just a couple years ago had 19 losses in a row. The mercy rule was being put on them every game. From that level to an 8 wins team is a huge, huge 360 degree turnaround. There is a bunch of teams that HAS NOT made this kind of improvement so that says plenty about the kind of coaching Morgan co. has. For anything negative to be said about these coaches and the obvious improvement and job they have done is complete idiocracy.

who cares bout all this morgan county hype, we walked all over you all in the playoffs!!! All your coach does is run his mouth and come on here, (yes we know which screen name on here is actually your head coach), and talk about how his middle school offense is gonna take his team far each year. Great you won some games this year, but it doesn't take a genius for good teams to shut you down, so predictable. Morgan County=soft!!

20-14 is hardly a "walking over". I thought Lawrence co. had some very good football players. It was a great game, Morgan won the first half, Lawrence won the second.

Double wing is an awesome offense to run...matter of fact it takes a set to run it. Every one thinks its a middle school offense but but look at the numbers it produces, you can't deny it. If I was a head coach I would seriously consider running it. I hope the best for Morgan County...keep on keeping on.
