1. Coach Hammonds, no shot at staying in Letcher county, whether he wants to or not, it's not up to him. He has had his chance to prove what he can do, time for a change.
2. Coach Holland is very happy at Hazard and will stay until Happy fires him just so he can take over and coach his son. Even then Holland would not go to Letcher.
3. Little Al would never give up everything he has at Union to get into the mess at LCC
4. Coach Wright from Lee county will resign in the next couple of weeks, which is good for the County and the Bobcats program.
5. Coach Jones is having problems in Owsley County and will probably asked to resign.
6. Coach Hatcher is looking (surprise) to move closer to family, Coach Bentley and Coach Fugate are the ones being talked about for his replacement.
7. Coach Sizemore at Leslie is out, Coach Collett(girls) will be asked to take over, but if not it will be interesting to see if the JV coach gets the job.
8. BB will stay another year at Knott after they brought Justice in as coach in waiting, don't think he likes that too well after being lied to. May be looking to get another coaching gig elsewhere and take Cameron with him. Where will he end up? ( heard Hazard, Perry, out of the area, who knows)
NO offense..seriously, but I am friends with several of the people you mentioned above and it is a lot of wrong information...

I can promise you his name will be in the hat for the position IF it comes open.
I disagree.

Yes i believe that did have something to do with it. but in Coach Fugates younger years he was a wilder coach. I believe it was a number of things that led up to it.

Well I didn't know he did, but I know this much. I know more coaches in this region personally then you ever will!!!!!
YES Denny was a wild man in his younger days. If I believe right he even slapped another coach and he was tossed out of several games. Several things led to him being suspended

I heard JBS was starting the basketball program next season and Sean Damron would be the head coach. Anyone heard anything about this? Sean would make a fine coach.

Hope to see them start their program and try to build it back up. Some of these schools needing coaches need to go after some former assistants in under coaches like Big Al, Hatcher, Honeycutt..etc. Matt Hurt at Coastal Carolina would make a good coach. Wonder if Josh Whitaker's father will ever coach again?

I just do not agree with private schools at all... especially in small eastern Kentucky towns where they are not needed.
No need to argue..you will never change my mind. I am in full support of ALL public schools in ALL areas; academics, athletics, socially, teachers, etc.!

Ok, I'll bite on this. Whats your beef with private schools? I know this has nothing to do with this particular thread, but it just sort of got my interest when I saw it and I just had to ask. I went to public schools but would relish the opportunity to send a kid to a good private school. Im also in support of charter schools. I think the more choice a parent has to send their kid to a school that fits their needs, the better, be it public private or charter. Public school isn't for everyone, neither is private, and my understanding of charter schools are they are kind of a mixture of both. Some kids thrive in a large school setting, and that school may have more to offer in ways of extra curiccular activities. Some kids get completely overwhelmed in a large school and thrive in a smaller setting with more individual attention which smaller private schools usually provide. I just don't get your precieved hatred of private schools. Can you explain?

The best choice for the PERRY job if Hatcher leaves would be Shannon Hoskins. I don't see Denny going back to the Perry school system but I have been proven wrong before.

And the yearly rumor strikes again!! It never fails that someone mentions that Coach Wright is leaving, resigning, or will not be coaching the next season! It comes up every year and he just finished his 10th season at Lee County. Who are you to talk about Coach Wright leaving being a good thing for the county and the basketball team?! In his time here he has won 3 District titles which is tied with Powell County for the most during this time period. He also has a 24-8 season under his belt as well as a 14th Region All "A" Title! Hopefully, he stays for another 10 years!

Why wouldn't you see Denny going back?
Would it be because they wouldn't take him?
Because he wouldn't want to?
or both...

Me and Wall2Wall have our reasons, that's all anyone needs to know. But Wall is right! Shannon Hoskins is the best Assistant on the Market and in the 14th region.

Hey everyone!
I know Phil Jackson better than anyone on here and IMO he will come out of retirement to coach at Jackson City.
I have my reasons and that is the only thing I should need to tell you.

Have my reasons means I don't want to share with everyone. I don't run my mouth and give info on every little topic.
Shannon deserves it!! Remember from years back he built and brought that Jackson City team together that lost to Hazard in the championship game

A lot of people say that and I honestly think he would do great.
However, I just don't see them promoting anyone from the bench to take that job.
Shannon would be the one exception to that. He did a great job with what he had in JC and IMO with the talent pool in Perry he would only do better.
But I'm obviously always wrong because I don't agree with Crazy Horse.
I've never said Denny would be the coach at Perry Central after Hatch leaves, only that his name would be in the hat.
How is it so that Denny who was on the bench two years ago at Perry Central, coached in Perry County once before and was a buzzer-beater away from a championship game, has moved on to make Breathitt County a contender for the title...
wouldn't be mentioned to replace Hatcher if he goes elsewhere?
And Shannon who is currently sitting on the bench would automatically be the best candidate.
IMO both are better coaches and both would do great so you can't go wrong.
Hasn't Shannon mentioned that he has no interest in being a head coach again?
I thought that's been brought up on here before.

Let me see if I can help with some of the discussion about Coach Fugate.
1. Even though I am his son, let me be very clear in stating my Dad is the only person that knows for sure exactly what he would do. I know he loves coaching at Breathitt County. I had dinner with him during the State Tournament and all he talked about was getting ready for next year and how they will get better. He wants to win a 14th Regional Championship at Breathitt County. Circumstances can always change, but I am very confident Coach Fugate will stay a Bobcat.
2. Coach Fugate was suspended from coaching for 5 years by the KHSAA in 1990; the rest of the time away from coaching was his own decision. His behavior on the sidelines and politics in the Perry County school system led to that suspension. Everyone can have their own opinion on how much each part played in ending his coaching career at M.C. Napier, but the fact remains both those reasons played a part.
3. Coach Hatcher got him involved in the PCC program as an Assistant. He has alot of respect for Coach Hatcher and felt he could help the players and team. Cordia offered him a great opportunity to be a Head Coach again, but it involved teaching in a classroom. My Dad had not been a teacher in a very long time, since most of his career was at the Perry County School Board. Breathitt offered him a coaching position that did not involve teaching in a classroom. It was hard for my Dad to leave Cordia, but it was the right thing for him at that point in his professional career. Coaching is his passion and he loves it. When he stops enjoying it he will leave.
I don't know if this helps clear up everything being discussed, but I know at least you will have some facts to base your opinions on moving forward.
Go Bobcats!!!
