I literally would have no Idea where to start with Russell... Iâd have to break it down by decades 70s 80s 90s 2000s-Recent. Iâll give the last 18 years a shot off the top of my head.
2000s: Matt Thompson, Josh Gross, Josh Wills, Kasey Clark, Drew Mell, Michael Horn, Michael Gabbard, Jeremiah Nunley, Casey Menshouse, Derek Timberlake... just a few recents off top of head several more in this time frame that also could be argued as more than deserving!

The 70s 80s and 90s would be hard to even give a top ten for each! So many great TOTAL overall teams that their are several different combinations of 10 which could be argued for by anyone. A great thanks to all those Red Devil legends from the past for making our program so rich in tradition! Let us not forget Coach McGlone, IVAN THE GREAT! Who first taught us how to Wing IT out there on Friday nights!

While I agree with most of these, I would have to disagree with a few. Timberlake and Menshouse were ok at best. Mell was average, nothing special. Definitely not good enough to be listed as all time Russell greats though.

Lawrence County Bulldogs in no real order.
Phillip Ratliff - Marshall University - team captain 1992 national title season
Jason Michael - Western Kentucky - won a national title - currently an assistant coach for the the Tennessee Titans
Gerad Parker - team captain for UK and probably the best receiver ever in the mountain area- broke about every receiving record in a run heavy belly offense - is now an assistant coach for Duke
Michael West - kid was just plain fast- real true next level speed - if he had not followed another rushing star in Nick Meadows who is also on this list and got as many carries his freshman year as recent people to break the rushing record withe the numbers and yards he put up in his so, jr and sr years he puts it at a number they would never reach in my opinion.
Jared Hostetter- university of Tennessee
Dontey Wright - Miami Ohio and best all around athlete in school history in my opinion
Fred Dean - kid could have gone anywhere but chose semi pro then received career ending neck injury
Nick Meadows - kid was the fun as hell to watch run the ball - not the best top speed but could hit the line like shot from a cannon and stop on a dime and back to fullspeed in two steps - had cuts and spins that broke ankles
Tyler Combs- Marshall huge strong kid
