2019 to 2022 reclasification of teams

But see that’s the way it should be. That would be like saying it would be ridiculous if Corbin, Wburg, Knox Central, Whitley, Lynn camp, Laurel co, etc were all the same class and put in two different districts even though they are all in the same area. What was ridiculous is when I played having to drive 2 hours for a district game. Districts are supposed to be close. If the best teams in 6A are in the same district or region, than so be it. That’s the price you pay for being in a densely populated city playing football

Except that the entire situation was only created because the KHSAA let Cooper and Conner play up even though their enrollment would have put them in 5A (where they will be placed in the next alignment). This allowed 2 Louisville schools, Fern Creek and Southern to play down in 5A. Creating an awkward situation where we had 6 teams in NKY, requiring 2 districts, and the remaining 10 teams in Louisville stuffed into 2 districts.

So... not the way it should be at all, and I'm glad KHSAA is rectifying their mistake.

I believe you are correct with Frederick Douglass as the school was built for more than the 1200 they are expecting in next alignment. As for Scott County, they are there to stay after splitting into two schools. Great Crossing will be the new school formed from the split and I think they will be 5A as well.

Great Crossing will be in 5A District 6 with Frederick Douglass, Scott County, Grant County, and Montgomery County.

An unconfirmed report says that the students will have a say in which school they attend, but I'm not sure how that would work. If true, I can see most of the athletes wanting to stay loyal to Scott County which puts the new school at a major disadvantage. Then, powerhouse Scott County basically has a 6A football team playing in 5A. Funny how that would work out, huh?:eyeroll:

Now there in a different class and their not forced to play JC “because os district” so they aren’t going to. Not saying I blame them but they want no part of JC in a home and Home series. They told JC no when JC ask. That’s just the facts.

Johnson Central has beaten Tony Love coached Ashland teams by 27, 51, 37, 35, and 35. Only 2 times out of 7 has the game been competitive. Ashland won by 3 last year during the regular season when Johnson Central fumbled the game away and Ashland lost by 1 the last year they had Quinton Baker.

Not sure why either team would want to keep this game going. It's not really been competitive.

When Mercer County and Harrodsburg combined in 2006 the school was left in 2A. They went on to win the state that year and undefeated in doing so. They were moved to 5A the following year and won 5 games.

population in that area will probably have risen considerably by the next alignment?

Considering the 1000's of apartments and condos they are building right next to Douglas yes it will increase steadily.

Heard the new school in Scott Co will be open enrollment. Plus McKee will do just about anything to keep all the good athletes at Scott till his last son graduates..

So have they opened any coaching jobs for the new High School in Georgetown / Scott Co

6A will always be the Louisville Powerhouses

5A will be the winner of Bowling Green/South Warren vs. the top seven of the east (Cov. Cath, Highlands, Scott Co., Douglas, Pulaski, Collins, Southwestern)

4A West: Franklin-Simpson, Central (Maybe Hopkinsville) vs. Johnson Central, Boyle, Lex Cath, Corbin

3A: CAL, DeSales vs. Belfry (maybe Ashland)

2A: Mayfield, Danville (Maybe Lex. Chris.) vs. Beechwood

1A: Newport Cath. (Maybe Russellville, KCD, Campbellsville) vs. Pikeville, Paintsville, Raceland, Hazard (Maybe Williamsburg)

Honestly, tell me I am wrong... everyone who watches any high school football knows I just predicted every state championship game during this alignment.

Scott County will not be back in 6A anytime soon with Great Crossings in the mix.
