Pikeville 12 Raceland 6
#31
2 weeks in a row Pikeville has been controlled on the LOS and looked dismal on offense...could get ugly on Pond Creek next Friday for the Panthers.

The last I checked there was a 0 in the lose column for Pikeville!! They’ve won them all so far...what else do you want! Sorry some of you Pikeville guys have realized they aren’t what you made them out to be but 4 -0 isn’t to shabby in my book

RamsFan Wrote:It seemed to me like playcalling on both sides was fairly vanilla. More so for Raceland than Pikeville. Was this likely because of having inexperience at the qb position or could the coaches have been holding back something for playoff time? Thoughts?

On Raceland's end I'd say it has more to do with having a 3rd & 4th string QB in the game.

I’m really surprised by the score , not seen pikeville play but seen the Rams a couple of times and their line is terrible so if they controlled the line of scrimmage last night , pikeville is not going far in the playoffs unless they fix that

That “0” is lasting 6 more days.

Raceland was much better than I thought. November is gonna be FUN! Congrats Pikeville. A dub is a dub.

I think I know you hahah

Surprising.

Nonetheless, Pikeville will need a steady offensive and defensive attack to combat the Pirates.

But the zero vs Paintsville will last all year long.

Until Paintsville has the balls to play Johnson Central (when donkeys fly)
you might want to sit Pikeville/Belfry comments out.:eyeroll:

Ramdad, I don’t know anyone from Raceland but hey, you might. Haha

PJ I love the way you jab and keep people torn up!! But your orange yellow jackets make a living from playing nobody and then getting smoked in the playoffs! I don’t think that will change this year! But keep giving them hell PJ hahah

One thing I will say for Pikeville is that regardless of how you have looked on O the last couple of weeks you have still won. I am sure it has been frustrating considering how the offense looked the first couple of weeks, but with a new QB, questions on the O line, and playing rivalry games, you get some hiccups along the way. That being said, when the RPI come out in a couple of weeks, a 1 point and 6 point win carries the same weight as if you had hung 50 on somebody. So, I wouldn’t worry too much because no significant trophies are ever handed out this time of year.

What you said bucslover68 is true. Me personally need to stay off BGR right after a game. Let the emotions go away and think about the game to make a logical assessment. I know at the first of the year I thought with Pikeville’s schedule and what they had to replace was going to be a learning experience. But like you said with those two wins against a pretty good Bardstown and Mingo my expectations went up. Yes the young quarterback has some learning to do (but he will be a dandy in his high school career) but like someone said before on here the line of scrimmage is a work in progress. So love these Panthers and on to the next one and it’s going to be even a bigger challenge. As always GO PANTHERS!!!

This team will look so different by seasons end. Im not at all concerned by that. Defense has been very solid against 4 teams now, offense will come along with timing. Two more rivalry games left (Belfry and Hazard), which worries me some but I’ve got faith in Coach Mac and staff. These Panthers will be just fine. But yeah it’s time to pump the brakes some on the hype, replacing a big senior class from last year that played in two state championship games, new starting QB, etc. talent is there, still the favorite IMO for 1A. But the east is loaded for bear and is in the midst of a great 4-5 year run of talent and teams

I think your setting yourself up for disappointment there Slick. Just like everyone thought the Rams were going to be good after you had a decent scrimmage with a down, depleted Belfry. Rams barley got by a mediocre GC team. And that was with your #1 QB. If they hadn't dropped so many balls they would have won. Now you have QB #3 in. Unless he's a stud in waiting you have that to deal with to go along with soft line play. So in my opinion playing a Pikeville team that was probley overated has given you false hope. Don't get me wrong, I hope they do get better an come out of the East. They may. But I don't know if it will because they will get better, or if the other teams are down and was overrated also.

Yep that can 100% be expected when your facing off against a team you may see in the playoffs, but offensively the Panthers are getting timing and an overall understanding of the offense ironed out.

We cancelled when the program was in jeopardy of folding. We have tried to play since then, but good effort on your part, just lacking facts. So, with that being said, I will commit ever how I want. Even you said they could play all weekend and not score.

And if we will play Freddy Douglas... I don’t think a lack of “balls” describes Paintsville. But good try.

Are you saying Pikeville won’t make it to a rematch with them? Dang, Jet you have lost all faith in the Panthers.

So what your saying Paintsville will definitely be there if Pikeville makes it. I think there is some other team that will have something to say about that.

2. What will you commit ever how?

Far from it. If Paintsville somehow makes it that far Pikeville will have them in the gym shooting hoops the next morning.

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better man. The truth is we tucked our tails an ran. Central was awful in the years before Matney came but yet they still chose to play that game. Our program almost folded because of an unqualified ,piss poor excuse for a head coach who thought he knew it all. Thank goodness Coach Cherico got rid of the mess last year before it was too late. I rarely agree with Jet on here but he’s correct about what he said. At least Pikeville still has the balls to play Belfry and didn’t end one of the biggest rivalries in Eastern Kentucky. We only played “ Freddy Douglas” because we were desperate for a game and they paid us a bus load of money for come there to get our tails whipped.

I don’t really care how many people want to say otherwise. I know 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt the facts. They are irrefutable. But anyways, congrats to Pikeville on the win. They are been ugly wins but wins.

Also good luck next week, crazier things have happened.

Dang, with fans like you who needs rivals!!?? And it’s Chirico not Cherico, figured a die hard blue blood would know that.

Congrats Panthers on the win. As they say, a win is a win. I agree with what another poster said, this team will look different by season's end. Young McNamee is being battle tested now, and in a learning process as he's gone up against some pretty tough competition so far, and it's his first yr. varsity start. He's going to be a dandy after he settles in. Imo, the D has been pretty stout, but it's going to have to tighten up on the run defense. Jmo, the O line is a work in progress when you consider what graduated. When you take into account the two Freshmen guards in their first varsity start, they're doing a pretty good job, and they've got some decent size already, just as Freshmen. Another thing to consider is the starting center has been out for a couple games due to a nagging injury, and his replacement has done a pretty good job being a Soph. and his first varsity action. None of this is an excuse, but something to consider. It is frustrating when you compare the first two wins and the scoring margin in both games, but hey, they're 4 - 0 right now. They will get better.

I agree with all of this. However, some Pikeville folks on here thought this team would put up 40 on any 1A team they faced and be heavy favorites to win a Championship. They are good but the margin for error is razor thin and I think it has caused some to get defensive on here. Mac coached teams are always better in November and peak at the right time.
