Maybe he isn't sure about making big position changes his first year here???

I think he knows what he is doing he was assit coach on the Lex Cath team that won a state title and played a big part of that!!!!!
I don't claim to know a whole lot about plays and what to call on certain downs and whatnot, but it seems strange to me that we run a single back set EVERY play. Just seems to me like it ought to be mixed up a little more than it is. I mean no disrespect to any of the coaches as I know most of them and like them all. I just have a hard time understanding why if something isn't working they don't try to switch it up a little bit. As for showing support, I do. I'm at every game til the bitter end. I'm not out there like some bad mouthing the coaches or the players. I feel sorry for the boys on this team and I think it gets harder every week for them to keep their heads up, and they should. But at some point the coaches do have to claim responsibility for what is going on. People cannot go on saying that the coaches are doing everything that they can and that the boys are uncoachable. You are talking about a group of boys from the Seniors all the way down to the Freshmen who had mulitple undefeated seasons. These kids are very coachable.

I never said they wasnt they are very good kids. Other then the belfry game there were bad breaks that set up TDS in the Coal grove game and there were bad breaks in the SC game, thats just the way it goes. They just need to find the right combination of kids to put on the field. We weill be ok.

Preece had about as much say in Lex Cath,s offense as you do in the Dawgs offense. They try something similar every year and always go back to what made us the winniest team in the state. You and a few others on the sidelines are the ones who dont have a clue.Look at what we have done.Exactly the opposite of what you predicted.Your predictions prove your the one who dont have a clue.To save your reputation from being a total zero in high school football quit making predictions.I am not for replacing Goldsmith, just everyone around him. There are a few who are actually just an embarrasement to the program.

Agreed there are at least 6 or more folks that need to clear the sidelines...

dawgheart and dawg4runner you guys understand tough love and I appreciate that. You too Dawgmom. You guys are not living in fantasy land telling people where going to win games you know we most likely wont.Telling kids what they want to hear doesnt build confidence.Goldsmith will in the end have to take the blame because he is the head coach but when he was winning games earlier in his career he wasnt surrounded by bozo,s.He is too nice.I have heard many times and now I believe it to be true, a coach is only as good as his assistants.Letdown bigtime here in Huntington!!!

You are wrong. He was right there on sideline beside the Head Coach. Coach Preece knows football and he learned alot while at Lex Cath. As for the offense he is running, the only way Lawrence County is going to make a run at the state title is by using the spread offense. This is 4A football, unlike the lower 3 classes where running the Veer or Option will win the state.
I just think moving kids around and putting the best player at a position regardless of who he is, and put the best players on the field.

How true, how true. I was very disappointed in the low turnout for the game Friday. It was like coming to a game in the 80's, haha. Too many people in this town like to talk about how they love the dawgs but only come when we are winning. A TRUE fan will be there no matter what. We still have a few of those. I saw several people there supporting the team and they don't have anyone playing and I think thats great.

NO WAY!! I am implying that the best players need to be on the field. If a freshman is better than a senior then play him. I am not talking about anyone in particular. I have heard that there is plenty of very good young talent on this team and if so, they need to be on the field. Yes they will take their bumps and brusies but they will gain valuable experience and most importantly confidence. And if the other player gets upset then maybe they will work harder on getting their position back.
Competition among teammates is good as long as you can keep everyone's main focus and that is: This team is one unit whether win or lose but play together.
If I was a LC player reading or hearing all these comments, I would use that as an incentive to show the world what kind of team we have. LC is about ready to break loose on someone and it very well may be P'burg this weekend.

Well if I remember correctly the team that got beat by mayfield started out the season the same way and then made an incredible run before just falling short.

But, a true fan will be behind them all the way! I have seen several people at the games who try to keep the boys spirits up by cheering for them & yelling.. no matter what the score is. And that is awesome. I know that the boys appreciate it. As long as they have a few, true, dedicated fans.. then WE (players, coaches & fans) will be alright.. win or lose!

Yes the 1991 team started 3-4 with losses to, Tolsia, Russell and Fleming County and I believe Raceland before winning the last 3 regular season games to finish 4th in the district at 6-4, then beat Sheldon Clark, Russell and Mason Co. to advance to the state semi-final game against a very good Mayfield and if LC had a kicker they would have won that game.

I think its time to move on, Lawrence County is at 0-3 and leave it at that, we can't make changes to what has happened, its up to the coach's and the players to make the turn around and move on and learn from the last 3 games. I will still travel from were ever I am at to watch the dawgs play win or loose. We all have our opinions how things should be done, but the bottom line is the coachs have the say so how they are going to play the next game. Like it or not.

Hey, I'm not trying to stir anything up. It was one of your own fans (RedRaider Nation) that made the statement that players should be put in the best positions possible "regardless of who they are". When one of your own fans makes that sort of a statement it sure makes it sound like he was implying just exactly what I asked. All I did was ask him to clarify his statement. I dont know anything at all first hand about the situation. All I was doing was asking. Go back and read everything that has been posted and you will see that that is exactly what said. Why dont you spout off to him instead of me. He's the one that said it, not me. Since when is someone not able to ask a question on here without getting the first degree from you? I never said the first ill word about or towards anyone. I'll bet if it was the same question about another team besides Lawrence Co. you wouldn't be threatening someone about stirring something up would you? You would have cared less. It was just a simple question Batpuff and nothing more, and considering all the talk that is being talked, the question was far from being anywhere out of line. I certainly dont deserve what you said to me.

Why dont you lambast some of your own fans? You have some that are saying that Goldsmith is a joke , dont know what he is doing, and should be replaced. Then you have others that say that Preece is a joke, dont know what he is doing, and should be replaced. Then you have some that say that they both are jokes, dont know what they are doing, and should be replaced with Chuke Williams. Sounds to me like your own fans are the ones that are guilty of "stirring things up", as you call it. I never once made the mention of anybodies name at all, or said the first negative thing about the team, the players , or the fans. It was however your very own fans, and then you have the gall to tell me that I am guilty of stirring things up. I just made a simple request of RedRaider Nation to clarify his statement. Which he did , sort of. You should be ashamed of yourself.
