Too Good Wrote:no it was quite a few, but any way you want to look at it, belfry running whatever they want with whoever they desire should be able to beat any class a school bad, and for hazard to out score them, and belfry score once (which was a 60 yard pass on a third down)?
Trust me on what I saw last year (and it was last year so we'll drop that)
I have said it before and will say it again, if you come to a Phillip haywood scrimmage expecting to see something special you will always leave disappointed.
Take it as you want it. Yes, Belfry may give the ball to Lee 25 times a game but to beat a class a school in a scrimmage using Dotson and your third back the most dosen't mean that they shouldnt blow out a class a school still....

Huh?
I'm saying that if Belfry took Ivan Lee completely out of the game and ran with just Dotson and their 3rd best back (which they pretty much did today.....), they should be able to beat a class a school pretty bad. They did run the sam ol' Belfry offense, triple option, fullback dive, and trey,,,,they passed the ball maybe 5 times.

OK... Belfry got their butts kicked by a 1A team and Belfry has no shot at the state title and all Pirate fans who have ever followed Belfry should go ahead and be asking for Haywood to be fired. Meanwhile Hazard is the best team in EKY.
Is this what you have been wanting to hear? HAHA
Also, if for some Ungodly reason Belfry wins a state title then 3A is a weaker class than 1A because Hazard dominated Belfry in a scrimmage...

Not exactly sure why you are getting so emotional about it..... Belfry is the best team in the mountains, is that clear? All im saying is that in a scrimmage, even if it is a scrimmage, Belfry should be able to beat a class a school. Now, without getting upset and talking about Haywood getting fired "haha" lol, you can tell me what you think?

I am not upset at all... what I really think as someone who has followed Belfry closely for years is that this is exactly how I expected this scrimmage to turn out. This is what I posted earlier this week in the other thread for proof:
Hazard has a very nice team and will contend for the 1A State Title, Belfry knows exactly what they have back and will be focusing on improving areas needing to be improved so that come district play they will start building for a long post season run. The important thing I get from all this is:
1. Belfry apparently is havign some success with their passing game which is a major plus.
2. The Pirates obviously need to get redirected focus with their O-line and work out the kinks on their DL, if Blackburn and Cisco didnt play then that will create an immediate improvement on the Ol when those two return.
EKUAlum05 Wrote:Belfry will never look dominating in a scrimmage format. Haywood truly uses scrimmages solely for the purpose of finding weakness, gaining younger players confidence, and working on wrinkles that belfry may need down the road. Expect Belfry to use a revolving doors of subs, for Ivan Lee to get much more fewer carries than normal, and for the Pirates to pass the ball considerably more than they would in the regular season.
With Hazard's pension for letting Olinger run, coupled with the fact belfry will probably just run the base 5-2 read the entire time, it wouldn't surprise me for Hazard to outscore Belfry in this one.

Too Good Wrote:ill agree with that, i couldnt tell you if those boys played or not, because i dont know them, but if hazard and belfry played lets say around week 8 or 9 yea it would probably be a diffrent outcome...
Cisco would be hard to pick out of a lineup, he is the normal starting Center (6' 270)... Blackburn is Belfry's massive Tackle, he is 6'3 300lbs and quite possibly the top O-linemen in the mountains.

Too Good Wrote:well the cisco guy played idk about blackburn, i saw a number 54 who was big playing...
That was more than likely Casey Whetstone who wore #54 last year, he is listed at 6'3 239... Cisco more than likely would have been wearing #72.

Too Good Wrote:the whetstone guy was good along with the center as their two best lineman in my opinion, not counting the blackburn kid
Sounds pretty accurate to me.... Blackburn is a treat to watch, he may very well be the best OL in 3A. I appreciate your info and sorry if you misconstrued the intent of my posts, I think I did likewise.
Was the Hazard defense better than the first scrimmage game? I know I saw Mikael Campbell on sports overtime and I know he was one of the key players that missed the first game . I would also like to know if Austin Maggard is cleared to play yet?

Chancey was wearing a red jersey with no number on it.

Thanks for the updates Too Good.

Although Belfry didn't play as good as I think they can, they still didn't look real bad. Through the 10 and 10 format they did outscore Hazard 3td's to 0, scoring twice in their first 10 offensive plays.

No problem!

Who caught the TD pass? What type of throw was it (i.e. Bomb or catch and run)?
I was misinformed that Olinger had graduated. But then again someone said that the Packers had picked him up lol. Last year I don`t think Hazard could compete with Belfrys defense. But 2008 is here now and I think Hazard can compete with them for sure. I would also rate Olinger among the top 3 Qb`s in the mountains and perhaps the best dual threat in the state.
The Blackburn kid did nt play in the game...And if you think that Hazard could beat Belfry you are badly mistaken. If you come to one of Phillip Haywoods scrimmages to see something spectacular, you came to the wrong game, and if you think Coach Haywood should be fired then your crazy.

That's important info right there....

Guys, Hazard's one of the top 1A Teams in Kentucky.
1A being the key word.
Week 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10... Belfry takes Hazard out like its nothing, We all know it.

Is anybody else shocked that they went down and distance. I have never seen Haywood do that in a scrimmage game?
It'always 10 and 10.

Let's keep in mind, this time last year, everyone on Pond Creek was complaining because of how well Hazard matched up against Belfry in this scrimmage. Come late November, both teams were 13-0...
I wish I could have been there, but I was moving John into his dorm room.
I think I was the only person wearing red that day who said "I think Hazard is going to do something big this year". Everyone else was all frowns.
Important to note that 4 of the 5 linemen (not counting Wil, who was injured early) from last year's team should be back this season. AFAIK 2 of them were injured/hurt, and either didn't play in this scrimmage at all, or were in for very few plays.
Like I said though, I wasn't there.
BTW, is the Belfry game of the PCB played at Shelby Valley this year?
