Breathitt is in a district with Estill, Magoffin and Powell which will not help to prepare them for a deep run. I can understand losing to Pburg in a close game but not scoring agaist Sheldon Clark and getting it handed to you by Perry Central, You are not going to win a state title. The answer is no.
Breathitt is an average team at best without Fugate. It appears they are trying to please too many people and not riding the horse that got them there last year.
What exactly do you mean by trying to please to many people? I have heard this a lot lately and I just don't understand what you are trying to say. We rode the horse last year because the horse had an excellent line to run behind. This year the line isn't meeting the expectations which were placed upon them. The offensive line will get better with more experience and Channing will benefit as well. We are depending on Channing to much right now and Holcomb needs to get his other athletes involved. So I don't feel right now that we need to ride the horse any more than he is already being rode.

Where there is a will there is a way!! The odds however have grew very slim?

The team needs to come together. I dont know what it is about second halfes of games but Breathitt turns the switch off, and come out flat as can be. We need to get our butts in gear and start stepping up. Channing is a great player, but I dont think he is much of a leader. We need someone to be the leader of that team and get on people who are not pulling their weight on the team.

thats a great point....their in a weak district....powell co. maggofin co. and estill co. estill is on a down year and powell may just be goin back to their old days....breathitt will be in the state championship game this year in a rematch against centrall....if not breathitt then i would say belfry...all roads lead to central

They'll win their District...now..the playoffs will be a different matter...i think they are good enough to go to state regardless of their record, but there are some good teams in that region to get to louisville.....:dontthink

Unless Breathitt ends up doing a complete 360 with their offense then I don't think so. They have to get through either Sheldon Clark or Belfry, then they would more than likely get Somerset.
It's defiantly not going to be easy.

I dont think so

Who is the O line coach this year???????

The key for them to be a great team will be finding a way to get the defense off of Fugate. The way the teams are playing them now, its making so they're gonna try to make Haddix beat them, which isnt working very well for Breathitt.
They will get better, but I'm not sure of putting them in state-caliber yet. Especially when the way it looks, they'd have to play a hot Somerset team in the playoffs.

Huge drop off after that. This next game against LCA will be important as far as seeing improvement on offense and defense. LCA is a quality team, and if Breathitt can "find a way" to get this win, they can use this as a spring board game.

i just cant wait till after friday what everyone has to say about the way breathitt's backfield will be. look for changes. if it dont come this week it will be no later than next week.

Breathitt is not good enough to get by Belfry, Sheldon Clark or Somerset this year. Their district is pitiful. Those other teams would struggle to win the Big Sandy Middle School conference.
09-17-2009, 02:29 AM
They can but its starting to look bad for them.
09-17-2009, 10:28 AM
A long way to go to do that.
09-17-2009, 11:15 AM
Don't think they can.

I'd honestly like to see Fletcher in the backfield with Fugate & Haddix.

I heard haddix was moved from QB to RB with Fugate. If so I really do like this.Ive seen Haddix make some big plays running the ball. So him and Fugate back there as a duo would be a pretty good 1 2 combo. Now only if they could find someone to throw the ball and keep the D honest.

Good move here, especially if the Bobcats have a competent backup that could step in and manage the game and let Fugate and Haddix win the game out of the backfield and as wr's.

I see everyone's logic but we are becoming desperate at this point. I think deep down we wanted to see Breathitt suceed but some wild things have happened to them thus far. Anything can happen but for them its not going to. There are some very big holes in there game plan and it is showing.

The play calling and game preparation has been lacking thus far this season and that is not as much a player problem, but a coaches problem. I am not saying that coach Holcomb is not a good coach, just that the play calling and preparation has been better for 3 of the 4 teams Breathitt has played.

Who knows for sure, but every loss hurts us fans.

QUOTE] It's not coming out flat, it's coming out WORN OUT. They need to get their big butts in shape and start working out a little bit. Then maybe they will be able to play for 4 quarters instead of just 2. Yes some are playing both sides of the ball, but a lot of teams with great athletes do the same thing and they are in shape enough to do it. Yes they need some help on the O-line, but that is not an excuse for them to be tired and fumble the ball because they can't even hardly stand up because they are so tired. Even the D-1 superstar is so tired he can't even move by the 3rd quarter, he needs to take advantage of his opportunity and get his team ready to play the rest of the year. They can do it, if they will get in shape and are ready to play each week.
