Hey listen we have been doing good on this thread so far and we haven't had any arguements or people blown up about anything and now isn't the time to start. This is an opinion based site and thread, everything said in here in based on other's opinions. I was surprised at how nicely the conversation in this thread has been going with everyone building off of others opinions so please don't ruin what we have going here. We value your opinions but please let's try to keep this thread working as nicely as it has been...

If your best friend were to come up to you arbys man and tell you they were gay, would you tell them to stay away and not touch you? A friend that has been by your side for 20 years for example. And the fact is they aren't even interested in being with you that way. They just want to come out to you and let you know they found a person they love. Are you going to turn them away?

There's no way in hell I would turn my back on them. They are my friend and if you are someone's friend then you sohlud'nt turn your back on them on anything, espicially becuase their gay. Like i said earlier when a friend of mine came out to me I was thrilled because they felt as if they could trust me enough and felt comfortable enough with me to share that important piece of information with me.

No one is saying that your opinion is wrong and I don't see anyone else here trying to tell you that you're wrong and that they are right. If you would turn your back on someone who you claimed as your best friend then that's your choice, no one else can make that choice for you. I know that the reaction that you have described is one that everyone is afraid of when they come out to a friend and no one wants to be abandoned for anything espicially for something they cannot control such as who they are attracted to.

It wasn't the opinion she had a problem with It was how it was stated.
If someone was gay and you didn't know it. What would it matter if they touched you? A gay persons touch feels no different than a straight person.
My thought is you do what you want just don't try and convert me. I have partied with gays and lesbians. I have hugged gays and lesbians and none of feels any different than hugging a straight person.

Im not going to tell you your opinion is wrong AM. But really your best friend you would turn them away? A thing that would need to be done is to put yourself in their position. Im sure they would have frightened to tell because of the reaction they may recieve from you. Coming out is a huge step in so many directions. The gay person coming out to you, all they really need is their friends to stick by their side and give them a helping hand, not just fitting in, but living. Having a life. That friend needs you more than anything in the world.
