I agree with one thing Hail Pikeville, you guys need all the help you can get. Maybe you should just worry about the Panthers and not worry so much about the Wildcats. The "Glory Days" of Pikeville Football are gone so maybe you should just concentrate on how to get those back.

Like it or not, He is the coach. He has some talent returning at Valley so it will be a better situation. He is the coach so you might as well support him.

I am fine with Coach Norman as are most of the people I have spoken to throughout the community. Wish him and the team the best of luck this year.

This sounds like a very good coaching staff, I wish them the best. I know they will make the SV football program proud. I do think they can win a district title this year.

Wasn't Hampton and Roberts already on the staff? Do they teach? If so is there any paticular reason one of them wasn't qualified for the HC job since they are being retained on the staff? Not being negative but wondering what the thought process was since these guys was already there and had some success with Saunders. I guess what I'm asking is, Were either of these guys not certified to be HC?

PC Defense, You have posted enough on the Valley Football Coaches Search Boards that I am sure you know the answer to that question, so why bother asking. We have a coach in place with what looks to be a pretty good coaching staff and that's what matters. Coaches Hampton and Roberts must be satisfied with the choice or they wouldn't agree to assist. Time to move on and concentrate on getting the team ready for the season.

Actually I have not payed that close attention to all the details. I thought mabey the other assistants were not certified teachers and might have been para-pros, that's why I asked. Really wasn't clear if Hampton or Roberts were actually in the school system or if they were para-professional coaches. Wasn't being negative.

This thread is about Shelby Valley's new football coach, not Pikeville and if they recruit or not.
Let's keep it on-topic.

If you go by past coaching track records this simply was not a good hire.

Give him a shot, wait until after he has a season or two at SV before casting any stones. Late hires really make it difficult for a coach.Good Luck Coach Norman and SV.

WOW! One thing in football is "THERE IS NEVER A GUARANTEE." On any given Friday night, YOU CAN BE BEAT! So there's 8 teams on their schedule already penciled in as a big W before the season has even begun. No team is ever a guaruntee, when that is the mind set, someone slips up on you. Hocomb, Haywood, Maglone, I bet have never guarunteed and absolute, for sure, 100% 8 wins even though they feel confident they will get them. :dontthink
