I think your loaded....:flame:
Like I've said to you once before, move on troll.:Shaking:
Nobody said Somerset was lower class than Rockcastle or wouldn't be much competition. They are in Class 2A...Rockcastle is in 4A. Somerset is a tough team to try to keep up with. That's what I take as what Hatz and RIUTG meant. Everyone knows Corbin is pretty good as well, maybe not as good as past Corbin teams....but pretty good. Your just smarmy when you get on here and your sarcastic comments are tiring.
Rockcastle's schedule this year is fine. The coach couldn't get ANY closer teams to sign on for a home and away contract before this past year and Rockcastle pulled in Estill, Frankfort, Perry Central and that bowl game against Sheldon Clark in Harrison County last year. Yes...I said NOBODY closer would play Rockcastle before this past year. This year will be the reciprocal end of last years contract agreements and this winter new contracts will be signed. I'm not at liberty to say who will be on the schedule as of right now, but, some are in the works and are very likely going to happen that will bring Rockcastle's team back closer to home next year in games.

Rock has allways gets invited to somersets bowl game but never gets to play somerset. With that said Somerset a good team. But i think they are on the same level as Perry Central or whitley County. If you want to upgrade add Bell, Lex cath, Highlands or Boyle. those are your powerhouse football teams right now
To Rock's credit I recall they played in Danville for 2 years at the Pigskin Classic. Faced Boyle and Danville both times. So they have played quality teams in the past.

No offense, but how would playing Corbin or Somerset be called "beefing" up their schedule?
Both teams are of a lower class. Bell is as well but Bell is Bell and is a good opponent for any class.
Id like to see these rivalry type games get started again, but considering Rock has to play in a region full of a lot of great teams including a couple in the same district (Knox, Russell) I think theyve scheduled pretty well. Dont forget Whitley and Perry are both 5A schools, so Rock is playing up in class on those.
Hey papagrit
well this poster said somerset was of lower class and not really beefing up sched.
i would only like to see rock play teams in pulaski area so I can watch and nothing wrong with anything I say, last time I even said anything about rock was who was going to Union College and playing, I think there were 3 kids going and now the Rowe kid isnt even going, so to say I was wrong is an understatement.
But to call me a troll I would think would be beyond what a father would say to someone who actually follows rock football way before you did.

To me, the definition of a forum troll is this:
A person who intentionally and consistently baits others on a forum thread with snide, rude or sarcastic comments to intentionally aggravate and disrupt or harrass the thread.
It seems like most things you say on Rockcastle threads smack of sarcasm. "Oh, you should win state with your super speed, a 10-0 season, I dare say a region championship" (do you really see things that way?....come on!) , "why is Rock's schedule so weak?...why don't they play teams like Somerset and Corbin?" , "why aren't more Rock kids still playing in college?...is something wrong?" It's nothing direct, but the indirect way you say it. So I'll be "touchy touchy" and direct with you and call it as I see it.
The sarcasm drips from your comments....and I stand by my post....to me Sir, you are a forum troll.

Think what you want but all the things I have said are true
A team with that much speed should not win, I say the kid who runs a 4.3 might be fastest in the state playing football
What's wrong with wondering why there are not more kids from rockcastle playing college football, I wondered where some were so I could keep up with them and since rock has had so many good players I wondered why, nothing wrong with that.
A team with so much talent like last years team that played a team like Frankfort, Sheldon Clark, and a medicor Estill Co team should have played a few tougher teams, especially with a very weak Clay co team in the district.
You of all people would think it is good to expect rock to do good and have people wonder where there kids are playing football, so I guess no one is allowed to know where rock kids go to college. I still stand by what is said and wonder why more kids don't play football in college
A troll I am not, but curious and critical yes, but I guess no one is allowed to criticize the mighty rock, are you all too good for that and can't stand seeing other opinions that differ from yours?

As Papagrit said, your intentions to get rises are very awful.
I think you know what i meant. As Papagrit said, I wasnt putting down Somerset or Corbin, but both of those teams are on the same level as a Whitley or Perry, meaning, it wouldnt be "beefing" up the schedule as you say by adding those two.
The only way Rock could "beef" up their schedule is by adding state powers like a Lex Cath or Boyle to their schedule.
But, for your take on Corbin.......Corbin hasnt been a powerhouse in over a decade and hasnt won a state title since 82. Thats 30 years.
Rock is fine and will continue to be. They continually show that they are a greatly run programs, and one of the best things is that their one of the most classiest programs as well.
You should stop your non sense of trolling on a program with as much class as Rock.

In the last of 8 years rock has had 2 Play for UK, had one play at cambellsville for a couple of years. around 10 or 11 play for union, have three more headed there this year. have one goi ng to Washington University St. Louis. There have been several kids from the football team that went on to play baseball or basketball in college.

As I said earlier, when the opportunity came for Rockcastle to pick up Somerset before this past season, NOBODY closer could be found to play Rockcastle. The head coach went school by school up and down I-75 as far as the state line to the south and wound up picking up the bowl game at Harrison County to the north. He then went east as far as Rowan County on I-64 and west until he got Frankfort to play. He went as far as Glasgow down the Cumberland Parkway. He went as far east up the Daniel Boone Parkway as Hazard and got the Perry Central game. Either the schools didn't want to play or could not work Rockcastle into the schedule. That came from the man's mouth in the lobby of the high school at a basketball game. So, either Somerset couldn't work Rock into the schedule....or wouldn't at the time. The same can be said about Southwestern who Rockcastle had two great close games with the two years before with, unfortunately losing both in the final minutes.
Corbin WAS a decent team three years ago with the kid (Watkins) playing that went to EKU. I hear he is a GREAT kid from the coaches at EKU.
Just a quick note about the Rockcastle kids in college. Clark is probably not going to play at Union. There is some differing stories on that. Big Thacker may be going back to Campbellsville after all since he had that surgery and it was succesful. He also is a fine kid who's parents are very nice people.

Not sure why you think Frankfort is such a bad team. Yes last season the game was not close in the second half. Rock had a very good team and it was a year that Frankfort was very young.
Frankfort is typically very strong team at the end of each season. Their staff does a great job of preparing them. I think you will see a very young team with some game experience.
I think this year folks will see a better game. I think the Frankfort staff wants to keep the Rockcastle game.
I think folks will find Frankfort will play anyone. The believe they can compete no matter how big the school.

I'm glad kids from rock are playing college football, some very good kids. But I had a very legit question when asked why they weren't playing.
I have only been on here as west 80 as I live in the Pulaski area on Hwy 80.
I also have many friends from rockcastle who also wonder why they don't play games closer, so I think it was a legit question also.
So some who see that as trolling obviously don't like questions to be asked.

You seem very knowledgeable on the in's and out's of scheduling. I know that Coach Lucas reached out to Rock to play when the new contracts were issued prior to last season. A regional repeat and a state finals appearance made it tough for Somerset to schedule, I'm sure Rock understands that. Somerset picked up Hazard, Glasgow (two teams that were in the state finals and one who won 1a), Breathitt County, Whitley, Both the Jessamines in a bowl game (East 1 year and West the other), along with Perry Central at the back end of a district that includes Danville, Middlesboro, and LCA. Somerset is not out classed by anyone, nor are they afraid to schedule the big boys... As seen by the schedule they put together. I'm sure that if both schools reached out to each other (and they apparently did) that an open date could not be found to fit each others needs. To downgrade Somerset based on school size is an asinine, as they regularly compete with schools outside of their class and have for years.

I think these two will work things out in coming years. Would be a good game and should bring in a big crowd. The Class doesnt determine how good a team is. its just the enrollment of school. Somerset would be a worthy opponent for some 6A schools.

Why won't Somerset play Pulaski then? They only play every other year, always at Somerset, in the Ray Correll Bowl. Somerset and PC play each other multible times a season in ALL other sports. However, Coach Lucas, like Coach Cobb before him, won't play PC on a home and home basis. I know for a fact that Coach Hines has begged both coaches to play home and home.

This isn't and shouldn't be a pc vs Shs thread, but what good does it do either school to play every year? Out of district opponent with far too much emotional involvement early in the season. District play and playoffs are the only thing that matter. Finding quality opponents early in the season is great, but Pulaski is average year in and year out.

I completely agree with this. This is exactly what I said. "So, either Somerset couldn't work Rock into the schedule....or wouldn't...."at that time. That is why Rockcastle had to travel so far to get games this past season. West80 was the one that said why won't Rockcastle pick up better teams to beef up their schedule like Somerset and Corbin. I explained that the Rock coach went all over locally trying to schedule games. I have all the respect in the world for Somerset's football team. I had a cousin play on Somerset's team last year. Someone else said something about class and it was taken wrongly. I said that I thought they meant that Somerset was 2A and Rockcastle was 4A. That West80 dude just starts stuff...like this...and it gets blown out of proportion. That's why I accuse him of being a troll. My apologies in the mixup JP1...I don't think the teams could get together on dates or something...the same thing with Southwestern I'm pretty sure happened.

Gotta love how everyone goes to the 40 talk.
Ill say it once and ill say it again, even if the kids can run a 4.7, running on a track and straight ahead is different than on a football field.

I like the rock and have followed them for years and hope they always do good, but when certain people who claim to know it all and think someone is out to tarnish their school image by asking a legit question about college players and how I expect great things because they are by far according to speed terms a very fast team and should win games based on that one kid who is so fast, then yeah I will keep asking.
Seems we have 2 stories on if rock tried to play somerset.

Not making excuses. Because Rock was a much better team than Frankfort last season.
But Frankfort started 5 freshmen that game. The QB was a Freshman getting his first varsity start that week after only playing 1 series in the first week. That really limited Frankforts ability to do certain things on offense. They were a total different team at the end of last season after they prepared those young guys.
Talking with the coaches at Frankfort they want to keep the Rockcastle game. They said playing them prepared them for the post season.
I would like to see this years game.
