They won their district for a reason. And a lot of us players watched film from our scrimmage. Both teams honestly played awful. Missed tackles, catches and blocks. Also 2009 was my freshman yr. We didnt do anything to their locker room. They beat us. We played hard. We tried. We was a lot better than anybody expected and thats all that matters now. Your team played good. The refs wasnt the best for any team. But hey thats high school.PC and HC good luck to next week. Congrats to making it to region. WC had a great run this yr and leave it at that.
Classy post by a young man who has obviously left it all on the field.

In 4 years there will be a new President.......a new coach at Harlan Co. A new number 1 song but Jim Black will be head coach at Whitley Co and Mike Campbell will be AD.............IF they want to be!!!

I agree Mike Campbell will be AD.
Theres no question about that.
Black on the other hand, i believe will be retired by then, with a current assistant as head coach, unless a lot of winning happens before then.

Very proud of our Colonels this season, its very easy to seat back and critize coaches calls but I feel Coach Black and his staff do a great job with the limited staff they have. You won't see a staff work any harder. Check around and see how many 5A programs only have 5 coaches. They need to get these men some more help and start updating our facilities too. You look around and Whitley use to have one of the nicest locker rooms and weight rooms around, but that was 15 years ago. Almost all schools around us now have indoor practice facilities and nice field houses. We just need to start working to keep up with the Jones.:1: Again Congrats to this years Colonels.
Roll Colonels!!!

We had around 10 guys coaching back when i was playing.
Im not sure why there was such a decrease.
Any way you slice it, play calling was our downfall for the most part this season. That isnt Black's fault, he doesnt call the plays, but he should put a stangle hold on who does.

My only question to him was did you leave everything in your heart on that field tonight. He said yes but he thought it wasnt enough. And I told him if that was the case then you have nothing to be disappointed about about.. Good Luck PC and HC

I personally only know of one team that has an indoor practice facility. Weight program is also mighty important but field housed and indoor facilities don't mean anything. The game is not played indoors. More coaches, better weight facilities etc.....Administration support, parental support. From what I saw Whitley's practice field and it was better than Danvilles or Boyles. Coaches, coaches, coaches....

WOW!!!
7-5 and the natives are whining....
I agree that Whitley needs more coaches, and lets be honest they have needed more coaches for some time. Jim Black does a great job, along with Bobby Gibbs do a great job with the offense and defense. BUT they cannot do it all. They have a former head coach on the staff and that is great, but beyond that the experience level drops off. Admittedly it has been a while since I have been in the locker room or the weight room, but if you are not moving forward then you are falling back. I did get to see the new Harlan County Stadium and it is beyond anything in southeastern KY.
When you look at it this way:
Jim Black: Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator
Bobby Gibbs: Offensive Coordinator
Booseman: Special Teams/weightroom
Mckiddy: Defensive Line
Ayers: Defensive backs
??????: QBs
??????: RBs
??????: JV
??????: Freshmen
??????: Receivers
??????:
Sadly there appear to be several coaches that are not coaching anymore but still working at the school. At most schools if you were a coach and are not coaching, then you are looking for a job.
Jim Black is a excellent coach and does a great job, and it is shameful that "fans" get on here and call for a "change"

and it is shameful that they are not much better than mediocre every year because they dont know how to throw the football. running the ball every single time when it is 2nd down and 1 or 2 yards to go with the defensive line stacked to stop the run is pure craziness.they do it repeatedly.if defense knows what's coming they are going to stop it.

I agree. Its not about the facilities, Whitley still has one of the best around considering there getting a little age on them.
Ive been in a lot of weight rooms over the years and Whitley still has one of the best ive seen. With the expansion of the school, everything has pretty much been moved except for the football field and facilities.
Its a verry nice convience that everything the football team uses is all with 50 foot of each other, and thats one reason the new stadium wasnt built up on the hill where the soccer field are now.

Nobody is whining.
I agree that Black is doing all he can with what little help he has.
Taking a look at the big picture though, I wonder why he has had trouble getting others to commit to coaching. To be honest, i have no idea on this, and maybe somebody can answer, but just 5 years ago Whitley had around 7 coaches, no including the frosh. Campbell, Gibbs, Ysidro, Cotton, Hudd, Cooper, Mckiddy, and a couple of others were there every day.
Will they not fund any more coaches for Black? I honestly do not know. Im not around the program good enough to know anymore, and just have become more of a fan since my last family member got done playing in 08.
I will say this though, when Black brought Fox, Davis, and Blank up to help with the younger kids we got a lot better.
Those guys have always been able to get threw to kids better than anyone, especially at the middle school level.

If 40-21 win over one of them and a 1-9 record from the other team is on par with Whitley, then you are correct.

Only change i see is that riutg will change his avatar! He will still run his mouth. He will still think he knows more than all. Maybe whitley should get this guy on staff. Or maybe he used to be? Any way whitley had a good year with a brutal schedule... How many teams can go through that schedule and come out in the plus. My hats off to you guys and coaches great job. Riutg god bless you. My mom always said to treat people with kindness even if they are jxxx oxxs....llabtoof out!
