I can easily think of two more teams (Letcher, Leslie, PCC, Hazard, Pineville, Middlesboro, etc etc); that would be awesome!!
The bolded statement above will be what stops this idea!!!

Both coaches at bell and knox wanted to wait two years to play again. Thats the story.

Was only a matter of time after Dudley left before the mediocre began to set in. Here it begins. Congrats BEARS!
I think it took Dudley a few years to get rolling himself at Bell. He did a great job but had some time to get going. Kind of like the time he is needing to get going at Pikeville now. I don't call playing for regional championship last year and a loss to Lex Cath along with beating a tough Bryan Station team this year before the Harlan game mediocre. Looking at the big picture this year's bell team lost their starting senior QB the second game of the season and has pulled up a freshman to take the spot. They could have folded. Think they have done well under the circumstances. Id rather see our bobcats play teams like Lex Cath and Bryan Station in a regular season than routing teams 60-0 like some of the ones scheduled in the past years.

And I guess you are right, Knox Cent is now King of the mountains. I would put them a head of Belfry this year. Bell has been in a lot of close games this year. I guess it was just a matter of time. The worse thing is Bell has Louisville Central to look forward to in the playoffs. I could see Harlan county and Knox Cent being the teams to beat in this area in the future.
I wouldnt call Knox King. Look at their schedule. Not many of the teams they beat had a winning record. Doesn't compare to Bell's schedule. Young QB will be ok as time goes on for Bell. District champs with freshman thrown into the mix not too bad.

[quote=Football1]Trust me, "the schools" did not agree to not have the game. We wanted the game. We needed the money it would have generated both years. No less than 5,000 fans watched both games when we played last. Would have been the same over the last two years (more probably) considering the great teams both have had.
Matters not at this point. What is done is done. We look forward to resuming the game. HC, BC, and KC are all great programs that will continue to set compete against each other for the right to be considered the best team in the area. I do think the days of Bell being the assumed winner of those games is over. Tonight proved that.[/QUO
The "schools" had nothing to do with it. Both Russell and Mills agreed themselves not to play the game to let things die down after the move.

You people are hilarious. You can't get over your coach leaving you after he built your program that was in the grave. Better be glad he maned up and left us up here at Bell for awhile to put your program on the map. If not you would still be stuck as everyones homecoming.

And we will finish this season without a loss to a mountain team can you say that?? I think not!!! Yes Harlan is playing great ball right now but so is Knox.
Can you say you wear a district title this year?

Football1 Wrote:Knox has all the right in the world to use this game as a proof point for our progress over Bell. It was Bell who chose not to play us so its all we have until next year. Get over it. HC dropped a 40 bomb on Bell. They scored 6 on us. On paper, Sounds like Knox would have seen something on the board that starts with a 5 on the points column, like say 55 or so points. Conjecture such as this sucks doesn't it? But when you refused to play us and you robbed two classes of Seniors of the biggest game of the year that is all you have - conjecture. I love Harlan County.
Sounds like you need to get over yourself. All teams have a bad game and this is ours. We will prepare for the next while we are wearing our district tshirts.

For the record Knox has beat Bell. It was in 97 or 98 I believe. Tom Greer was the Head Coach and Earl Cole for Knox. One time in who knows how many games, but nonetheless they have beaten them before.

A man I work with was sitting quietly at McDonald's eating and saw a man walk in with a Black Bear pullover on. A group of men sitting off to the side who ended up being Bell Co. fans said, "Well, you all FINALLY got us this year." Things were calm at first, but he said he watched this man from Bell Co. come over and get in this man's face and was screaming at him and yelling, "It took you all long enough!!! Just wait until next year!". He said it was just bizarre how this guy went off the deep end.
Best part of this story is that I found out the man who was verbally attacked was my brother-in-law.

He didn't know the difference between the regional title game and state semi's! He said a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while, they were pumped upped over the new stadium, it will take them another 26 years, Bell had a bad game, and my favorite well it was 3A playing 5A! Plenty of excuses!
Calling him Pathetic is an understatement! I guarantee he was one of the ones who left early!

The only logical thing I could think of, you cannot drop Bell below number 3 just because and I dont think you can bump HC above Belfry just because. Yes Knox did beat HC and they were ranked ahead of them at that time but taking into account that the way HC is playing now and won 3 straight Dist. titles and Knox come in 2nd in their Dist. Well this is the top 4 the way I am saying it.
Best I can tell Knox has won all games but one but 6 of those teams don't even have a winning season. Probably took account that Bell's schedule is much tougher

Fans from anywhere are stupid sometimes. My apologies for this fool. HC was better on the night that mattered. That's all that needs to be said. No excuses at all. But in defense, I do remember last year, the guy from HC standing in the back of the end zone yelling racial slurs at Corey Oslonian after his long TD run. Also yelled some pretty awful things at Polly and some other Bell players through out the night. Point is, no excuses for any instance of getting that carried away, people do need to realize it is a game and life goes on after the final whistle.

One Of Union College top Priority is lighting for there field. There goal is to start early morning with a couple games with the little ones and then a couple middle school games and High school games And then kick there game off around 8 00.They plan on a lot of Tailgating and Campus tours to get the most people on campus. They think this would be a great recruiting tool for there school and sport teams. This would also be great for the economy.

I remember that guy, too vividly; I was really close to him. I yelled some pretty bad slurs at him, too and got the police. I also apologized on the thread last year after the game to the Bell fans.
But Patriot is right, we all have them. I get carried away at games and say things that I normally wouldn't say, but these guys are over the top!!

Wrong, no racial slurs! Period! Just good natured ribbing! Hey #9", hey #9" etc! The boy scored a TD and stuck the ball in his face! I was there. We all cheer for our team, this was blown out of proportion!! The Bell game has way too much emphasis! The playoffs are what counts. I hope #9 has a great career!

No, I'm not wrong; I watched the police escort his dumbass off the field.
And there were racial slurs.
Different person perhaps, but definately out of line.

To be perfectly honest about that whole thing last year, I'm not sure that was a real HC fan. He was decked out in our colors, and shirt but I didn't recognize him and have never seen him since. He was whacked out on something, too!

Sir you must be talking about a different guy, because Like Granny Bear said, I was standing close enough to the fool to hear him doing it constantly throughout the night. And the reason Oslonian stuck the ball in his face is because after he scored, the guy made it a point to get his attention, and start the same crap. I remember Granny Bear being one of the very few who did acknowledge and apologize for the guy last year. But like was said, everyone has those idiots..we did have a fan actually get into a physical battle with a thug on Lawrence County's team a few years ago/ Kid walked over and struck him, but in fairness he was yelling some derogatory stuff at him. Every one has those people, especially when it's a big game and everyone comes out for it. I thought the guy was without a doubt drunk last year.
